Done with D2

I have been playing for over 5 years and I’ve always kept up with all the seasons and ordered new content early. I am a solo player mostly. I do play at least 14+ hrs a week. I’m not the strongest player but usually can hold my own. I have found that the game is forcing players to join clans and work in groups for everything worthwhile and if you don’t do that the game gets really boring and repetitive quickly with very little rewards in terms of upgrades. It’s a shame I’ve played this game for years spent money regularly and always felt that there was a weapon title or achievement I could work at u til now. Does anyone else feel this way?

  • Just take a break until May. Play the new content then take another break. This is no longer a game you can continuously play. The magic and out of the box thinking from the developers is gone.

  • I'm in absolutely the same position. After taking a year off from the game because it felt like a mess and because my clan basically died off, I come back to find the mess is even worse. Having played since just after D1 launched, congrats to Bungie for finding my breaking point after all these years. Avante Garde mode is it, weirdly. The game has always been about buildcrafting and sure, it's constantly being rebalanced and you can't be successful in endgame content with a bad build, but you could basically do things the way you wanted. With AG, you're playing with Mickey Mouse Approved weapons and gear, or you can never progress past rank 5. I don't know or care how that decision was made, but I'm out. I hope you find other games you enjoy more, no point grinding on Destiny when it's not worth the time, the money, or the effort.

  • I left for about 6 months at the end of Heresy. Just came back this past December. I'll say I'll never treat D2 like I once did, but the break was very welcome, and the return has been unexpectedly enjoyable. I am not a completionist or title chaser. I got away from caring about the Weapon Grind during Season of the Wish (Swordbreaker was the last weapon I recall fiening for). What I found to be the most enjoyable aspect of Destiny 2 as I headed out was Sherpaeing people through various tiers of content, and maximizing my own build variety for enjoyment. The Armor Changes and Light changes that accompanied EOF drove me away. Heresy was simply too good and I didn't want it to end. But the idea of overhauling my Vault and regrinding anything meaningful all over again was just too much. I don't want an endless hamster wheel. But it's what Bungie has given their dedicated base. So leaving just made me appreciate the game for what it is. No more sweating for GM Boards or titles. Just enjoying my builds and my Vault. I've been queuing lots of the casual activities and finding them enjoyable. Because nowadays I don't have an hour to sacrifice on this franchise. 20 minute adventure. Log off. And then most of the game becomes meaningless and it's just about a bit of fun, not a grind.

Hmm you seem to either have a hard time finding that 10 min. friend or just have a hard time solo ing. Have you tried Fireteam Finder? the in game one? You don't have to join any clans, it's literally designed to help you with what you're asking for. i haven't padded you down (looked at your history) so i don't know if you're talking PvP or PvE or both. Unless... You have tried what i suggested, didn't work and that's why... You're Done with D2, looking for help here!? What, at this moment would be your Worth While thing? Let's see if i can help you

  • Being forced to make friends is a very strange way of looking at it, especially when playing a multiplayer game like D2. One of the best things the game ever did for me is letting me meet people from all walks of life and make friends. You should give it a try. Playing with friends is more fun. Always has been imo.

Can I ask what content you are trying to do? Also take a break maybe? The game is really stale at the moment we all know this, just IF the rumors are true and shadow and order is delayed you’ve got plenty of time to play other things.
