I've seen a couple games do this, namely the division 2 although I don't know in detail how they do it, but Season replays.
During these content droughts, why not bring back old seasons (that work with the current engine, I know you don't want to have to port stuff you don't need to so we'll say beyond light on-wards)? I'm talking their story lines, their vendors, their weapons.
This lets people play through the stories of those, especially if they missed them originally. Maybe even tier the weapons (like give us one or two per week reprised into the new tiered system until eventually the season is over and we move on to the next replay season)
That lets people do the title again, that makes the game feel more alive, and that would hopefully help to fill the space that the no season "future" of destiny currently has now.
Also, I want to be able to see the guys working on the old tower again... I can suspend my disbelief far enough to understand that the old tower was very badly damaged by the red legion, but the helm is one ship and its been over a year. Bring back the helm as a seasonal hub and let us see our tower again, our beloved repairmen and their massive welding lights.

1 ReplyI’ve heard this idea a couple of times. If D2 really is slowing down and D3 may or may not be in development, this seems like a good way to give us content. They’re already recycling content by adding it to the Portal, so why not do it in an official manner? Update the gear, maybe update some of the content, and done. Problem is, they can’t logically do that unless they first bring back Red War, which means also bringing back Titan and Io. Not sure if that would happen. Personally, rather than a full new title, I would want D3 to be the definitive Destiny with ALL content from both games that can be added to without having to remove anything. Whatever their long-term plans, they need to tell us something before Marathon launches.
