GDC 2016

I know people will hate due to the source being Cross on YT, but it's enlightening to see how piss poor the development for D2 has become. Apparently back in 2013 they were thinking about putting in the portal system and it was shown at the 2016 GDC. They said that it was almost finished, but then realized that it sucked all of the "magic" and fun that came with using the director and decided not to put it in. Bungie had learned their lesson and had it recorded/uploaded online roughly 10 YEARS AGO. And yet, here we are with the portal, still causing THE SAME PROBLEMS. Frankly, I'd be beating a dead horse if I say the game is mismanaged or if I get harsher, so I'd rather ask: How in the -blam!- does Bungie learn a lesson years ago, and then think that mentalities will suddenly change after years of having a different system being the standard? My fellow guardian in light, you DO NOT use your currently supported and main source of income as a testing grounds for future IP or numbered releases. The portal was NEVER going to work, because testing already showed that no one wanted it for VERY real reasons. And yet, here we are, sitting with proof that Bungie doesn't permanently learn from their lessons. How many more flawed design choices were tested back in D1 and ended up in D2 simply because of baseless assumptions that the players will suddenly like them? What does this say about other major issues, like content sunsetting or other bad balance design choices? Are we doomed to face content vaulting AGAIN because Bungie will break it out in the future? How are we meant to trust that you guys have properly learned from your past when we have clear evidence that you ignore those lessons? This is what I mean when I say a Destiny 3 won't succeed even if we get a major engine upgrade/replacement, the best vanilla story to be a vanilla story, and even launch with 3 raids/3 dungeons/15 PVP maps. It's because the mindset and philosophy found in Bungie needs to change from the bottom to the top. Otherwise, we will be on this repeated rollercoaster that will simply damage your reputation further until your studio is eventually retooled or shutdown by Sony.
