As we all know, Destiny 2 has been on the decline with Final Shape losing players in droves over its year and then Edge of Fate releasing updated systems that weren't flushed out and integrated properly & fully into the existing game but that's another convo to be had.
At its decline, this argument may seem unnecessary being it may be too late.
Bungie's one long-standing practice of FOMO (fear of missing out) is introducing a new seasonal activity or a holiday event with new weapons & armor and it eventually going away along with the weapons & armor.
Then on the whim of Bungie, those certain seasonal weapons may show up in a weapon rotation between Xur and Banshee-44 that probably have a roll that is less than desirable.
Bungie sets this culture of FOMO where it hurts the game more. Regardless of the reason on why we, the players, don't play at certain times whether life happens or the game is just not good, why should the player get penalized?
New activities, weapons, & armor drives the game further and it's understandable some assets of the game need to put to the wayside to drive the game further but when it comes to weapons & armor for buildcrafting those need to always have a place to farm. If an activity or event has to go away at least give the weapons & armor a home to go obtain them thereafter; Maybe activities that aren't going away like Dares of Eternity or Onslaught.
The 2025 solstice event released the SMG Yeartide Apex and the armor set bonus Lustrous (Cauterize & Photogalvanic). To a returning player or a new player that sees these items being used by others and wants to acquire them to make their own build, they can't. The event ended and no alternate way to obtain these items afterwards were implemented. Same for Mint Retrograde and Lionfish-4fr; new DLC came through and these weapons weren't put into an alternate activity to go farm and now can only be obtained from Hawthorne's Weekly Clan Engrams, if one is lucky to even get it.
Buildcrafting is the cornerstone to this game.
Not being able to build the way someone wants because they did not play during that one time to obtain the item is unacceptable.

Edited by PK_Haseo: 1/3/2026 11:51:28 PMis it me or “Destiny 2” started to look like a “Free-To-Play” (gotcha) game. Example; If you Don’t Pre-order or Buy the latest “Seasonal Pass” DLC, loot for those content is almost impossible to obtain after the Season. The “Gotcha” side of things is the Seasonal loot Only easily obtainable during the release window.
