Tier 5 weapons are useless
Other than the rocket pulse rifles, all tier 5 weapons are useless in high end content. I thought this was an FPS game and not an ability spamming game. So why gives us all new tier 5 weapons with Renegades when all those weapons are so weak in high end content.
I remember the old days when you would use a Scott rifle in Gms or an AR and cause decent damage. Now, Gm builds are all ability oriented and I find it boring bc weapons are no longer viable in high end content anymore. I no longer see a reason to continue farming weak tier 5 weapons when I can use double specials and abilities, which I find boring and mind numbing .
I farmed for the crucible SMG for like 3 days and never got one to drop after the weekly reset. Before you would play 3 competitive matches and you would get the weapon....I don't understand why now is RNG based. Is bad enough you have to wait so long to find a match just to be disappointed bc it does not drop... I also end up losing 90% of the matches bc PVP is so garbage right now. I will not play that garbage again!
I was recently invited to a Bungie focus group and couldn't think of a reason to go other than the $200 dollars they offered. But than I thought.....I'm trying to quit this game, not continue playing.

Oh yeah. Now I know why I don't really want to play that much. There's no reason to get new loot for me. I could get a kick out of some of the new types of weapons and that's it. But it doesn't drastically change the gameplay enough for me to use them. I feel nothing when I get them even at my level. Or even when I get a tier 4. I don't care. I'm not saying that Destiny isn't fun to play, I'm just saying I could be playing something else. Destiny is more of a back up game for me that I can play with my friends from time to time.

You must be using different weapons than me. You should start using good weapons with good perks.

Edited by THE GRIND IS REAL: 1/3/2026 11:09:32 PMAgree ,tbh any primary other than the 120hc dont seem viable in endgame ,I used my elsie rifle with destabilising/repulsor and had to dump what felt like 4 whole mags if probably more for one red bar dreg with a void shield in the vile gm Bungie just need to buff primarys and leave abilities the way they are so both gunplay and abilities can co exist for variety in builds either ability focused or gun focused

2 Replies10 years of abilities being an after thought and now they are great to use. How you find them boring is beyond me (but each to their own). However, anything that is not praxic blade is woeful to use, so i agree with you there. Note: I do not think the blade is OP, it's most other guns are like firing damp cloth at the enemies.

I wonder if Bungie devs actually try to play their own game on hunter, it's like the hunter class doesn't exist Titans and warlocks get the lion's share in terms of abilities, worse yet, the players of those classes dis other players for using hunter, and look down upon us Why do they hate them? They spoil the other two out of proportion, and yes, I stick with hunter, because I like to challenge myself

I like 4t to 5t weapons very much. It better than have adapt weapons. Don’t get me started on about adapt weapons on trials. Lot players don’t make it on flawless cuz they want get better weapons like adapt vision. Since 5t weapons make it better than adapt vision.

Primaries have had an issue in endgame for years they struggle to somehow balance them when your not on level. Though it took them years to make a decent ability sandbox I wouldnt hold my breathe for weapons

guns 100% need a buff vs red bars and majors, but crying about the best pve sandbox we had since d2 started is crazy

Destiny 2 in no longer a 1st person shooter as you can do more boss damage and clear way more ads with abilities, grenades and supers. D2 used to have the perfect balance of weapons and space magic now it’s all about the space magic and the guns are all but worthless.

I’ll completely agree with your feedback regarding the woeful state of weapons lately, but let’s keep it to that. The feel of abilities right now is terrific and I’d hate to see that minimized to make sub-par weapons feel better than they truly are…

I did the seven comp matches but I don’t remember if it dropped after match or I had to claim it from Shaxx. I got Gold 3 (I think?) and the tier 5 kinetic tremors roll I wanted dropped. It’s still pretty weak in GM -50 though.

Legendary primaries are not in a good place in high tier content, even exotic primaries struggle a bit in -50 content. Overall, primaries need a tune up, regardless of the tier system, both legendary and exotics. I have builds that play well in dungeons and raids, even with feats on... but I cant take them into Vanguard Alerts, or even Ultimate Portal activities unless I swap around some weapons to either double special, and ability spam, or use exotic primaries instead of the legendary ones. With the current state of the game, with loads of mods, banes, champs, and negative deltas, the game is shifted more towards ability spam loops with weapon utility rather than a looter shooter as it was originally designed. Where the weapon use was the focus, with abilities to support them.

You’re not the first to point out primaries are struggling in harder content. I wouldn’t say useless though, I’ve been trying some non Praxic blade build lately for Vanguard GM, and had very good results with a prismatic Hunter using Trials auto rifle and Motif 41. But I used them in conjunction with abilities and for utility as they both have attrition orbs. I can’t imagine a scenario where you be able to just go through a GM just with primary gun without abilities, because that goes against the core concept of the game of build and synergies. -

Who knows,I do know I conquered 6 times and couldn't be farther from #7 now and played since d1 and can't get on board with this stealing of what I earned.also recently saw I need game pass to get luzaku for rank 8 or get to 70, which at an hour until I'm bored stupid isn't happening any time soon.sorry just saw this guy probably has 20 x times more to say,but who's listening anyways,quitting is probably best,like every one else already has
