Frankly it's common sense battle eye is supposed to be used to detect forms of cheating hacking which would include any forms of network manipulation example ping. Simply if you play video games long enough you can tell the difference when someone is lagging or they are using a form of ping I seen stuff like this all over snowball fighting pvp and trials. I personally think the issue is we don't see ping as a form of cheat but in reality it is you're using a technique to gain advantage of players in PVP by changing your network to force a lag so you can do increased damage or even possibly have massive damage resistance..

2 RepliesPing itself cannot be used to determine if someone is using network manipulation. Destiny's network model is quite different from other games and has strange behavior. It's also very unlikely you can differentiate between someone using subtle net manipulation in pvp and someone on a poor connection.

No system is flawless, and people are creating new ways to cheat as fast as companies can come up with new ways to detect them.

8 RepliesBattle eye isn't that great but despite bungie saying they'd allow it to ban users since it was a glorified auto report system it seems like it's still just a glorified auto report system. Granted battle eye has so many false positives and bungie is slow that I'd rather not deal with that thing actually banning.

1 ReplyWondering if they’re gonna move their new anti cheat they’re making for Marathon into D2. This new anti cheat is supposed to use some sort of Ai method. Idk I hope they drop battleye for either their new anti cheat or something else.
