One thing that I always look forward to with new expansions is roaming around the new destination doing public events, lost sectors and the occasional patrol beacon(and seeing other players doing the same too). The Pale Heart is a cool destination but feels lonely being a solo destination, Keplar is even worse because it has absolutely nothing to do when roaming around which makes it so boring and not worth going back to.
Renegades doesn't even have an actual destination it just has a social hub and 6 activity maps(which they all look cool) which in my opinion absolutely sucks. I personally would have enjoyed patrolling Mars for hours doing public events and lost sectors. I know everyone doesn't like roaming around in patrol zones and I think it's because(not that I'm speaking for anyone else) you Bungie never do anything to update them with new activities that drop meaningful rewards to chase.
You know that the Court of Oryx and Archon's Forge activities which took place in patrol in D1 were popular as well as how popular Escalation Protocol(mainly because it had its own lootpool) was in D2's Warmind expansion and yet you don't add these types of activities to other old destinations. Even the big Vex invasions on the Moon during Season of Undying made the Moon more enjoyable to patrol. Things like these could help make the destinations more enjoyable as long as they have their own loot to chase and also help power progression. Anyway this is just my own opinion.

4 RepliesEdited by Joulevette12: 12/26/2025 8:53:58 PMThe issue is the devs play way too much ARPG and not enough MMOs. Patrol zones needed an update years ago * World boss events (similar Vex incursion or escalation protocol on mars but with a countdown timer added to it ) * Secret lost sector (a rare lost sector that opens up on certain times of the day) * Secret bosses and small events in solo areas (boring and pointless areas now) * Adventure patrol missions (flush out lore and secrets of the destination) Most of the destinations got boring due to BUNGIE copying and pasting the same events at each destination with lack of interest outside the story exploring it.

Edited by JD: 12/29/2025 7:36:46 PMWhy? They’re a waste of dev resources. Lawless frontier is way better imo. Tf you care about a patrol zone for.

1 ReplyRenegades maps could have been amazing patrol zones and collectibles, chests and side quests and such. My favorite is the Endor inspired Venus. Feels like a waste.

Tbh i don't understand why people still buy dlc's . They all quit after a week or 3 . People used to play daily for years . I bought dlc's that don't exist anymore that i still wanna play . I did not pay money for it to see it getting removed and replaced with other content that i gotta pay for and is 100 times worse . Destiny 2 was one of the best and most addictive games ever created . Now it is the worst ever created . Sad , very sad ..

6 RepliesEdited by Motorhead England: 12/27/2025 11:42:51 AMI agree with the OP, and what he is basically saying is, " GIVE US OUR OLD GAME BACK". Then I would start paying for content again, and consequently, put in a lot more hours. Unfortunately, the game is now aimed at the hard core and the small elite percentage who are only interested in contest mode raids and dungeons, speed running against almost impossible timers, and have absolutely no interest in spending a couple of relaxing hours exploring and farming materials, as the original game was set out.

1 ReplyEdited by C0LONEL MUSTANG: 12/26/2025 7:50:48 PMFINALLY some Patrol discourse on Bnet, something I can contribute to. Man I remember grinding the hell out of Archons Forge for the armor sets for each class. Good times. There are some similar activities like Archon's Forge and Court of Oryx: Blind Well and Altars of Sorrow. I don't mind playing these, and I actually really enjoy Blind Well, but the thing is there's no gear (for me personally) to chase at these activities. At least that I know of, unless they reprised some weapons.(?) I think they did change the loot pool for BW "Recently"...But yeah anyway, I agree with you. I miss Patrolling Titan. I still am super disappointed that Bungie removed entire destinations only to give us a half baked Cosmodrome. Even weirder is that the Rocket Yard and the zones beyond are IN THE GAME. Since those areas are part of the Devil's Lair strike. Not sure why they couldn't be added to Patrol. But hey, I ain't a dev so idk.
Kind regards, The Patroller
1 ReplyEdited by TSGN Leviathan: 12/26/2025 8:45:53 AMHighly agreed! We lost 4 public patrol zones back when beyond light launched and it took until lightfall to get 3 new ones, though one of them is -blam!- Neomuna so I don’t count that crap. And to make it worse, there is no point in doing them at all. Public events rewards are worthless as are patrols.i patrolled all the time throughout D1 and early D2 right up until the end of season of arrivals. Everything just went downhill generally after that point.

3 RepliesThey did with the pail heart but then made it solo only and made it irrelevant in under a year that place has so much potential and it got squandered...

3 RepliesEdited by SpunChii: 12/26/2025 3:52:58 PMPlanets how been turned from a playable zone where you could spend some times on its activities, and to earn some loot. Into just a destination where the campaign takes place on. I remember in year 1 spending time in the edz, doing adventures and public events. leveling up my character and getting new gear. Doing escalation protocol on mars and going for Polaris lance. You don't really get this any anymore with planets.

2 RepliesI really do miss patrol areas. Back in D1 during House of Wolves there were little things that each patrol area was updated with. Something like, "The wolves are prowling," in which we would have to find where they were and take them out for gear and mats. Then TTK came out and the areas were plagued with Taken on occasion. They too had to be taken, no pun intended, out and again, we would be rewarded with gear. I miss those days.

Yes…. Can’t agree more… patrolling is some of the best content in this game…
-
I agree with you 100% They put so much time and energy into activities that really impact a small part of the player base, while ignoring those activities that favored the more casual player base who enjoyed less sweaty, fun activities. Personally, I think “ free to play” just gave them an easy out on public patrol destinations. They probably figured free to play Destiny players weren’t buying the DLCs, so why update anything for them. And yet, not updating or adding public patrol destinations is the main reason I have switched to “free to play”. It isn’t just the “free to play” players who enjoyed public patrol. Patrol will always have its haters, but I bet more Destiny players patrol than do high end activities. Destiny needs to return to being a game that favors both ends of its player base and their variety of challenge.

4 RepliesRemember the olden days, when on Venus everyone and their brother could hop in and help your raid team obliterate the starting sequence for Vault of Glass? Absolute FUN!
-
2 RepliesTime and Patience. They already know people want patrol zones that utilize player encounters. Probably get in the xpac, not the upcoming season change. I think they are going to start rotating in stock, like the 1 raid, 1 dungeon yearly thing. Maybe not new destinations every time, but reworked zones with more functionality for group dynamics and interactions, get people meeting out in the wild again.

2 RepliesYes, add actual bounties with Bright Dust (BD) awards as part of each completed bounty done! Make that renewable daily bounties, and some weekly bounties, too. 🤔 Utilise Pale Heart and Kepler, and the handful of planets not yet vaulted. 👈 K.I.S.S. Keep it Simple, sirs… That is all. Ease Things! 🖖👻 MTFBWY

I think its a Bungie resource and player population thing so my idea that I mentioned a while back is to keep a base-level of locations.. for example: EDZ, Cosmo & Moon (being the closest ones)... and then you rotate in a featured planet(s) per week(s) ... and you change something about it.. can be some mystery can be events weapons that are exclusive for a short time and then that planet is gone into the rotation... so if you had something to do on that planet you will get goin and that planet will be rockin (lots of folks).. basically it raises the importance of patrol

Agreed

3 RepliesEdited by whateverman7: 12/27/2025 3:28:08 AMThat would be cool, but to do that, they gotta get rid of old stuff to make room. Cause the game is already bursting at the seams. Is the community gonna be cool with that or complain? Think we know the answer lol. With that said, I think we'll get them again in d3.

You say Kepler patrol sucks and Pale Heart patrol is lonely. So you want more of it? Maybe that is WHY they didn't add another. I think Lawless Frontier worked perfectly and was an enjoyable experience (which you can patrol, but with a timer). Oh, and it's not lonely and boring like your average patrol.

Nah the budget is aimed to change the portal again ... To add more useless bouton

1 ReplyAll the patrol zones are used for newer stuff but but it's instanced and not alive so many opportunities to update and upgrade the old pat zones waisted in turn and burn content....
-
6 RepliesRemember Regional Chests? Whatever happened to that low end content? There are non in the Pale Heart or any other new content. It was fun for newbies. Public events, etc. are never found either.

1 ReplyWould be nice but this is the new model now …new Bungie .

7 RepliesMan, I flip flop on this often myself. Reason being, the way they do it, the patrol zone is only good for the content year, maybe a bit longer. If it was something they kept up with, maybe I'd feel different, but they dont.
