Iconoclasm - Witness fight game crash
Since Bungie won’t respond more than once to the other most recent thread on this… the game crashes every time I start the Witness fight in Iconoclasm (The Final Shape). Xbox Series X (although since it’s on multiple platforms, it’s your game not the hardware). I’ve tried reinstalling the game fresh, clearing cache, turning off SFX, lowering graphics to 720p, turning field of view to 100, motion blur off, chromatic aberration off, film grain off… still crashes as soon as he attacks. I even tried not looking at him and it crashed. You owe us more than this… fix it or give us our money back.

My brother shared a pic of Bungie stating there extending this particular free content till Dec 16. Darn, guess that means its still not fixed yet. -

but if you hide behind the walls and don't look at the boss, the game doesn't crash, but as soon as the boss shoots the fire darts the game closes instantly..... I think the problem is that the attacks he makes make the whole game crash

Edited by Kry.exe: 12/5/2025 7:40:58 PMI've done some troubleshooting and it seems like [i]exactly[/i] when The Witness fires its projectiles is when the game crashes. You can avoid the crash by not looking at The Witness, but, well... that makes the fight a lot harder. Happens on PC and PlayStation. Happens on Normal and Legendary. Happens whether you rally the banner or not. Happens even if you look at The Witness in third person. I'm a returning player (left after Witch Queen) and it's really frustrating that I purchased the Legacy Collection to play TFS and I can't finish the campaign. Hopefully this gets fixed soon. I was hoping to play during the weekend... This is probably even MORE frustrating to people wanting to play and finish TFS during the free week. If Bungie fixes this on Tuesday... then the expansions will be locked again. I hope they extend the free week because of this issue.

2 RepliesCan add to this and confirm that this was happening as of yesterday and today. I'm on PC via Steam and the game hard crashes to my desktop. I was playing with 2 others on separate fireteams, respectively, happening at the same spot each time. It was immediately after Ghost's dialogue and within 5-10 seconds after the encounter is supposed to begin.

My game is also crashing during the Iconoclasm mission, fight against the witness. I play on PC via Steam.

1 ReplyThis has got to be fixed ASAP there are alot of people having the same issue posted on Reddit forums. This is an instant mood killer for returning players who need to complete TFS campaign :(
