Hello, I've discovered that my score can never reach top 1% unless I buy the season pass.
At reward tier 89, you get the final upgrade to bonus portal score, reaching a total of +15% to all portal scores. This include Call to Arms scores.
My current best score for the Salt Mines is 3,068,308, which when multiplied by 1.15 brings me to 3,528,554. WELL above the 3.37m threshold for top 1%.
My next closest, Proving Grounds, comes in at 2,642,741. Multiply by 1.15 and we get 3,039,152. Once again, this is enough to exceed the 2.97m required for top 1%.
My Coil and Heliostat aren't quite there even with the additional 15% paid bonus, but I digress. I have min-maxed Salt Mines into 3:37 runs with the HVT. The friends with whom I ran Proving Grounds, have scores reaching 3,040,000. There is no improving my scores in a way that benefits me. If it were not for this PREMIUM 15% bonus to portal scores found in the rewards pass, I would be sitting at 665 points for the event, allowing me to guild my title and earn the emblem.
Even Bungie's free events are pay to succeed. Bungie, if you read this, free content updates and especially competitive events should be made with a 100% even playing field in mind. Tying score to power was already dumb, but denying score to players who don't own your pass is ridiculous. Be better, this is one of many reasons your players feel like you ignore the community.

1 ReplyThey should remove free to play.

9 RepliesYes they need to remove the bonus score or add it to free track… it’s a very bad thing!
-
6 RepliesIt saddens me this bothers ppl. Ppl are upset that someone spends $10 every 3 months... and now they claim an emblem is "pay2win"... What are we doing ppl... how did we get here...

Thank you for pointing this out.I have been racking my brain, trying to figure out why everyone else is getting the top 1% score in my fire teams and I am not, I'm 550 and most of the time the other people are dying and I am doing the boss run by myself. This explains why

1 ReplyBungie want players to shell out cold hard cash, they don’t care unless you do… it’s their only cash cow.
-
1 ReplyI hear ya but the emblem kinda looks like doggy doo and 98% of the community won't even know what its for in a couple months. I equipped on my lock and its meh.
-
And what gameplay reward do you earn from call to arms? You got the weapons, the helmet and are crying about an emblem that you won’t even equip if you were able to get it; please stop crying about your first world problems.
Even Bungie's free events are pay to succeed.
No they're not.
-
4 RepliesThen buy the season pass. Game has a ton of other more important issues yet an emblem no one will use and a helmet ornament that will be used a couple days is your issue. 🫠
-
1 ReplySucceed at what? Getting an emblem?
-
1 ReplyWhy? Do you really need that ugly helmet that badly?
-
33 RepliesThey'll make the game pay to win if that makes players spend money. They'll do anything low if that makes players spend money

Edited by Meat Fountain: 11/25/2025 10:25:56 AMThe only reward you can't get as a FTP player is the emblem. If that's important to you then fine, but it's not like you're locked out of the whole thing. Edit: although it is obvious they want you to pay for the pass (because of course, it's a business) or otherwise have to sweat for your score. I think we might be fortunate that they locked the scores when they did, otherwise FTP might not have stood any chance at all.

Even more reason I was surprised that being Top10% in every category wasn't good enough for the Emblem. You would think that being good at everything would count, but no, you can only get the Emblem if you're Top1% at something, even if you're barely sentient at everything else.

I tried so hard to reach the Gold threshold for Crucible, but with the capped 1.00% multiplier, it became impossible.
