IMHO the Portal should be a quickplay system than a mandatory to play system.
like I swear I remember bungle saying it's just a UI change than something mandatory to play to get new gear and progress?
and here's some simple changes that can really fix D2 and improve it:
rework the portal to be a quickplay system to earn new gear and bonus drops
bring back vendors on all destinations and make it where every time you reset ranks you get 1+ tier drops from that specific vendor making all activities like gambit and worlds worth playing again
make all public events always give 1+ tier drops on completion to encourage and make exploration worth playing
and put world's/destinations in the portal to encourage exploration as well, all of these things can be achieved with limited resources and it will only benefit everyone.

3 RepliesI see a ton of people ask for world exploration. Honestly I prefer open world too, but Destiny has zero need for it. In Destiny, if a quest or triumph doesn't take you to a planet, there is no reason to go there. For there to be an open world, again in Destiny, we would need to answer these questions? What are we exploring? Who are we talking to? Are these planets a proper use of time, space and resources to maintain? Crucible going through the portal was one of the best decisions Destiny ever made. It feels so rewarding now. Otherwise, the portal should just be the new Vanguard ops.

1 ReplyOther than adding a lot more activities to the portal one fix is that everything up to gm / ultimate should be match made .so many activities that have bonus loot never get claimed . I try to run ultimate lobbies and nobody joins . Stuck doing reclaim match made or the one match made strike .. just need more meaningful content to play..

1 ReplyThe portal is the new state of the game. They were hoping they could quietly and slowly sunset everything else and eventually just have the game pushed entirely through the portal.

2 RepliesLike anyone cares for public events. Even before lightfall nobody cared about public events. The top 3 public events that hardly gets turned heroic are probably the walkers one cause that gets destroyed way before getting the scotch cannons opened. The witch queens public event of delivering the payload, hardly ever does go heroic and the 3rd is probably the ether or the blight. I mean I still try turn them heroic reguardless. But nobody bothers. It ain't just cause it ain't rewarding. It's cause ppl just want to get done and go to another. Frankly, I'd agree about about adding the world's to portal in a way. Or do like they did in the past. Each week, in rotation, give it a weekly reward for doing certain amount of activities. Titan used to be a lot fun back in the day. The only time the walkers ever went heroic. Also a blast every time someone gets chucked right off the docks.

1 ReplyImo the portal should be vaulted. After all they vaulted so many things, lets add the portal to the list. And give t5 where adepts used to drops. T4 where prestige/pinnacle used to drop And voila we can play like we did for years.
