I'm one of those players who's struggling with the current difficulty of the game, I die a lot more than I find fun, I could probably win a "Most Rezzed" medal for Master level Fireteam Ops, the Legendary campaign was mostly a war of attrition for me, just to put my skill level into perspective.
And from what I'm reading on the forums, I'm not the only player struggling with the current difficulty of the game, it seems like lots of low end, average, and casual players are bouncing off the skill level increases we're being asked to participate in.
It got me thinking: Last year we had Resilience as an armor stat, most of us had the benefit of pretty high damage reduction, (I can't remember what the exact benefit was from max Resilience, but I think I remember it being around 40%,) and this year the best we can do is the 15% DR from wearing featured gear.
Thing is, I don't remember hearing about any similar nerf to enemy damage output; we got reduced DR, but I wonder if the enemies are still doing the same levels of damage, and whether or not that might be contributing to the frustration many of us casual and average players are experiencing?
Could it be that sunsetting Resilience is part of the reason, or even the entire reason, why so many of us are struggling right now? Suddenly we're all taking XX% more damage, and low or average skilled players are struggling to survive the difference?
It's difficult to quantify since we can't do side-by-side testing, so I figured I'd come to the forums and ask opinions, maybe y'all know something I don't. What do you think: Could the sunsetting of Resilience be contributing to the current difficulty woes that so many of us are experiencing?

Work on getting higher armor stats - you could get 2 - 3 102 Stats; Survivability will be increased.. Dedicate some time every week or so to see your climb.

100 resilience prior to EoF seems to be replaced by 15% damage reduction, which translates to 4 T5 armor and featured exotic. I also felt relatively weaker while levelling up but as I started to get T5 gear, it became closer to pre-EoF experience in terms of survival. On the other hand, damage you can output has significantly increased, both due to impact of 100+ stats and better archetypes+perks. I can now solo most master dungeons at least till final boss, something I couldn't have done before so at higher levels it's relatively easier.

So lower skilled players like myself never did master level or higher content. We did not do raids or dungeons on legendary level. many never did the campaign on legendary. The difficulty is because bungie is forcing players to play difficulty levels they never played before and many of us do not like it, are not good at it, are skill caped and have no gear to make good builds. I only play hunter and one of the builds is all about maximizing damage resistance through use of assention and a specific exotic. I don't have the gear to get the stats points high enough to make that build viable. At best I run around part of the time just shooting adds trying to build my melee and class ability back up. I do not have good seasonal weapons with the right subclass to make the build affective and old weapons I tried are doing like 4 to 20 damage vs a boss in solo ops. Talk about a way to add huge chunks of time to an activity, run through your heavy, special and have to plink a boss for 4 damage until adds spawn again and you can hopefully get some heavy to drop. Not fun, too difficulty and overly complicated with too many mods, perks and useless options that do not work.

Extra dr comes from the artifact gear bonus. Activity deltas were entirely readjusted, meaning -40 now is equal to -25 from before technically speaking. -25 is what GMs used to be. Enemy health was also reduced in the EoF update. Damage bonuses from your artifact gear bonus and new stat system are also added on top of your old damage values. Numbers are lower visually only (outside of any individual banging changes) The game has objectively gotten easier.

Nope. 100 Resilience is the default now.

I know ppl say this all the time as a trope... but in this case, it actually might be a skill issue :( I'm not trying to be insulting by any means, plz dont take it that way. I'd be glad to even help run stuff with you... The fact is: they didnt sunset Resilience. They gave everyone a baseline resilience of what 100 points used to be. The new "Health" stat controls how much health you regain from picking up orbs, but most ppl dont bother building into it. I juice up my melee stat & put the "Better Already" mod on my boots, so that orbs start healing me instantly. And I pair it with "Heavy Handed" so that my melee kills produce lots of orbs. You could also use certain fragments that provide health regeneration from certain abilities or elemental kills. Also, pay attention to the activity & its modifiers. If its a map with a lot of snipers, throw on Sniper Resist... a Void threat where Void does more damage to guardians, Void Resist. If you never really did Master content before, its just an opportunity to learn strategies & grow as a guardian.

I gilded conquerer 10 times mostly on hunter , i did solo flawless dungeons , i helped people do exotic missions and i did it all with 18 resilience ... I saw titans with 100 resilience get sniped and then they said , i have 100 resilience and i still get one-shot . And that is exactly how you sound right now .. Maybe locate the sniper first and kill him ? Be aware of your surroundings , communicate , use good guns , mods , armor , spam abilities , use super at the right time , be a high power level and be better than you were yesterday . 100 resilience is not gonna carry you , not back then and def not now .

As a hunter, resilience was never part of my kit. The change lies in the decision by Bungie to always keep us in a negative delta. They knew since Lightfall that most players hated it, yet they decided to double down on it in EoF. I’ve played enough content at this level now to say that I can do it for the best loot if I want to, but I should still be offered the choice to stay in the advanced difficulty while still making progress in my power climb. Also, since the quick play options are locked at 400 gear, I’m stuck playing the same few match made activities every day now. How do you launch a feature as half baked as the Portal was when it was the entire point of the dlc?

What vp Hokie said is accurate. Now whether in Bungie’s haphazard and incompetent way, they’ve removed it accidentally when sorting out the issues with the grenade and melee stats they’ve been tinkering with recently 🤷♂️. The spaghetti code has made anything they do to the game break 10 things all the time. I couldn’t say personally as I’ve not played since the release of Trash and Ire.

I think we are all playing with a default damage resistance equal to what 100 resilience was in the past if I recall correctly.

There is no increase of difficulty, the game is easier than it has ever been.
