The Portal is not the way forward. It may boost engagement temporarily but will undermine it over the long-term. "Engagement" is not "enjoyment." And only enjoyment sustains engagement. Except for the “no-lifers” in the community, most players don't play for loot alone--they play for an experience, which is itself rewarding. I worry that the current crew at Bungie no longer understands what made the game great: an immersive environment that offered a range of experiences for a range of players with different interests: from the lowly patrol, mission and public event, to the venerable strike, to the pinnacle dungeon and raid. The portal should NOT be a separate destination, but a way to integrate scoring and tiered rewards into EVERY activity the game has to offer. Right now, Destiny feels like a vending machine that is never restocked—not a living breathing universe.

This was their biggest foundational miss. Design so player *have* to play 200 hours Rather than design so players *want* to play 200 hours. Changing Conquerer from wait till week 6, to wait at least 3 months AND sink over a hundred of hours is a prime example.

That does depend on how you look at the definition of engagement. *Are we engaged as in battle, NO. *Do we want to be emotionally involved with and engaged with the story and game play, Yes, are we, NO *Should this be a job or feel like a job, no. Does it, YES By any definition we are not engaged, as shear play time numbers do not indicate if players ARE engaged, only that they are playing. I am at like 202 ish. The double bonus piece that dropped this week fell at 211 and had all the wrong stats so it is worthless except for infusion and it is not even worth infusing my current piece as it's stats are only slightly better, but not worth the cost of infusion. I am NOT engaged with the game. It is not fun and I do not get up on a day off thinking, "Man I can't wait to play this evening with my singular only friend who still plays". The game is a HOT mess. No one like the mater spark thing. No one like the shear difficulty of the grind to 550. I very dislike playing Bungies way. I do nto have good gear or weapons so I struggle, even at 200 LL. From Merriam Webster: engagement - noun 1 a: an arrangement to meet or be present at a specified time and place - a dinner engagement b: a job or period of employment especially as a performer 2: something that engages : pledge 3 a: the act of engaging : the state of being engaged b: emotional involvement or commitment c: betrothal 4: the state of being in gear 5: a hostile encounter between military forces

I'm guessing that misconception is why Nonary Manifolds take 20 seconds to delete. One. By. One. IMO any currency that is no longer valid should automatically be deleted from inventory.
-
it hasn't boosted engagement. we are seeing player numbers of a record low.
-
Bungie doesn’t care about enjoyment. They only care about metrics and clearly are stringing everything out as miserably as they can to try to limp the game to Renegades.
-
They must remove the portal!!

I believe that if Bungie had implemented the world tier system globally in Destiny 2 and not just in Kepler the scoring system specifically for the portal, with the portal having new equipment and the planets having legacy equipment but in the power system of up to 550but outside of the armor set system, to encourage the community to seek out portal equipment

People are just pushing themselves to play which is really sad to see . It’s not healthy. So many other games to play 🤷🏼♂️
