While not investing at all in content that doesn't make money, they are putting all their effort into making Eververse items. The current main systems and content are nothing more than a way to keep players playing and to extract money from them. You have to invest a massive amount of time to raise your power level and get good gear.
Furthermore, to increase playtime in any way possible, they made the enemies unfairly strong, and made it so that players must apply all sorts of debuffs to themselves to get good gear, or at least to raise their power level. And they are quick to fix items or bugs that make the game even a little easier.
Right now, Destiny 2 is nothing more than a means to fund the development of Marathon. That is why Bungie is ignoring user feedback and continuing to add terrible systems. As much as Destiny 2 is being sacrificed for Marathon, I hope Marathon does well.

True of every business in existence Except Digital Extremes, they actually care about thier community and health of thier game more than the bottomline But they have so much goodwill, players want to give them money -
Walk away. Its just a game. I stopped a few days ago. Its enough.

I noticed that the new bundles in the store are literally just exotic weapon shaped sparrow, ships, and ghosts...it's really sad. It makes them look desperate knowing their game is about to hit the grave.

Yeah you’re just a source of money, it’s always been like that. They aren’t your friend. And they benefit from it. Yall provide the cash and they give you cosmetics.
-
Obviously….thus year has been blatant! Star Wars dlc is a pure money grab as the ship sinks
-
Knowing this forum I think you really opened yourself to tone policing with that title, hopefully this elaborates the d2 situation better Bungie is treats Destiny players only as the source of money for Marathon
-
They can dedicate all the money they want to Marathon its a creatively bankrupt game tarnished by too much controversy, no-one was interested in it and no-one will buy it.
-
Bungie just like every other business exists to make money, nothing wrong with that. However, an argument can be made players are not getting the worth out of money spent but unless that really hits them hard financially, nothing's going to change.

WHAAAAT? A company wants money from customers?
-
You have the longest flash to bang time in history. I worked that out in 2014.
-
That’s shameful!
-
This just in; businesses use customers for money and water is wet.
-
So ... like every other company that exists?
-
Bunch of communists on these forums.

We are customers, not personal friends that are going to hang out together on weekends or some -blam!-.
-
Where have you been for the last 5 years?!?!
-
Um idk how to break it to you, but you are. They are not your friend
-
Wait… the billion dollar software developer is treating its users as a source of money? Serious question, what should they do?
-
Payback time, stop giving them your time and money, they will understand once the numbers got too low Or they'll double down and too arrogant to admit they're wrong and they choose to sink with their decisions
-
People who buying crap in Eververse are stupid.
-
You are only now coming to this realization? You didn’t figure that out at any other single point in time since the release of D1? Not even once! Only now? Wow!
-
Just stop playing....even for a month. Explore something else in life.

They don't need to try, they've created addictive loops and built in gambling mechanics, design to basically make us blind hamsters
