Edit: Please read the whole post.
We could’ve gotten Wrath of the Machines, Scourge of the Past, or the Leviathan raid lairs, but Bungie in of their “InFiNiTe WiSdOm” thought we needed another even harder version of an already unliked hard raid. 🙃🤪🤡
Yeah, I get that the “Epic” Version is technically the “Master” version of Desert Perpetual, but we didn’t need no World’s first thing for it and we sure could’ve had a lot cooler raid given to us this weekend than “Master Desert Perpetual.”
Honestly, it’s so evident that the creativity of Creative Team is so limited or non existent that they had to revolve to this in terms of a raid.
***We could’ve even gotten a new raid that was based around the seasons we’ve done. Especially with the whole “Reclaim” event and us getting our Iron Lord axe FINALLY. We could’ve gotten a new Iron Lord themed raid or something that would tie in and lead up to the events of Renegades.***
But no.
We got this, a steaming pile of uncreativity and no originality. Bungie, look, I, along with a great many other fans, are trying to stay and enjoy the game. We’re trying to give you a chance to show you can still make fun and new content. We’re trying to hold on to the belief that Destiny’s story still has hope.
But you aren’t doing us ANY favors at all. The portal sucks. This raid sucks. Please give us something new and something good and full of content that will last. Please fix the system to be like before EoF. Please give us NEW raids instead of just making multiple versions of one raid. You are letting your fans down severely and drastically.

If its Nostalgia you need look no further, Epic Desert Perpetual final encounter is an unused-asset dating all the way back to Rise of Iron, one that we have seen in trailers from Shadowkeep, an asset many thought would have been abandoned.
-
Remember guys, we keep whining about "recycled content" but still demand a 9-year-old raid gets brought back.
-
We do NOT need wrath back, it was not good in D1, its would not be good in d2
-
I, for one, do not need wrath back. That can stay in d1.

An unliked hard raid? Desert Perpetual is one of the easiest. The epic raid is pretty hard, but normal is mechanically light.

Gave the streamers something to do today

Iron lord theme would be slop for a raid it has no relevance to the canon especially with bungie being unable/unwilling to touch siva with a 39 foot pole. Vex stuff with maya is very relevant right now, I agree reusing the first 3 encounters is kind of lame but to be fair koregos literally bears zero resemblance to the original its a completely different encounter and frankly looks pretty cool and has a twist that is completely novel. Yes a completely new raid would have been cool but destiny has had one new raid a year since the dawn of time, thats clearly the rate at which they can crank them out at best. Its nothing new for the follow up to a new raid to be some kind of reprisal. What I dont understand is the timeline, why drop two new raids two months apart from eachother when there isnt another raid in the roadmap for the rest of the content year which is as far as we can see into the future. We are gonna be hurting for a new raid experience of some kind, new or reprisal, for a long time now. They couldve saved the epic raid until the spring or late winter in renegades, giving us something to look forward to and maybe using that extra time to give all the encounters the koregos treatment. Wouldve made more sense on a roadmap and couldve been a better product.

Edited by WinterSolstice: 9/28/2025 12:47:30 AMI feel its more original to give the newest raid a difficulty that adds a new encounter and modified all the previous ones than to bring back old raids.

Also, every raid gets a hard variant, this is nothing new and not something Bungie is going to magically deviate from after the better part of a decade. This is quite possibly the dumbest post I’ve read on here in weeks. Considering these forums that’s saying a lot. Well done lol. 😂🤡

Sorry, but hard disagree. The game might be in the toliet, but the one thing that this DLC gets a 10 on is the raid. The Desert Perpetual is my favorite raid in this game BECAUSE of its creativity. Sorry you’re having a poor experience, but that’s probably due to the contest mode modifier. Why they had a second contest mode for the same raid in 2 months positively mystifies me.

Am I missing something? no matter what season the raid/dungeon was always followed up by a harder version.
