Literally don’t know where to start… so I guess I’ll start with the fact that every game 7 for flawless I’m expected to carry along with a bunch of other matches beforehand.
My most recent attempt had me paired with two guys that do almost nothing (1 had a single kill, while I had 9 and stayed positive). Meanwhile the other team had an ascendant player and two additional competent players.
This same scenario has happened over and over, but especially on game 7. It makes the last thing that kept me playing destiny (pvp) into something I don’t even want to touch. Every other match is like a 1v3.
I don’t know what they need to do to fix it, but the balancing needs to be re-evaluated now.

You can't balance the lobbies when the player pop. is so low. This game is absolutely awful.

Lobby balancing is 100% still a thing. It gives me idiots every game I play.

It doesn't matter how many times they change matchmaking. If it doesn't address team balancing, then it's all the same regardless. Though they claim they disabled it recently for Trials, it was never there to begin with and that's what the problem is. https://www.bungie.net/7/en/News/Article/destiny_update_9_1_0_2
Fixed an issue where lobby balancing in Trials had not been disabled as intended in Update 9.1.0.
It's so ridiculous. Weirdly enough, my flawless game was also really difficult but actually pretty close (someone was using a Support Frame auto rifle on my team, so they were a little bit passive). However, the rest of the games were basically a cakewalk. I even had a match where we had a missing teammate from the start and that match turned out to be the easiest (won 5-1 with low stress). I have no clue how that could even be close to balanced, but that kind of match would probably turn up if lobby balancing was "enabled" anyways. What I think they need is team balancing that considers lifetime performance more than it does now and less "curated", one-sided slop. It shouldn't be rocket science. If you stick the better half of a lobby on one team, the other team is going to be demolished and that's not fun. Even third-party sites and apps can tell who's likely going to win, so why can't the game itself?
