Portal Onslaughts: Champion Tuning Makes These Modes Not Worth Playing
Portal Onslaughts are tuned in a way that makes them more frustrating than fun. There simply aren’t enough champions distributed throughout the mode to offset the pile of negative modifiers thrown at players. The result is a mess where:
- Revives are gone too quickly.
- Teammates sit dead for multiple rounds waiting on a champion that may never spawn.
- Runs collapse to RNG instead of player skill or teamwork.
And when that collapse happens late - after 30+ minutes of grinding - you walk away with nothing. Even with good builds and solid play, cheap modifiers like waves of invisible Screebs can wipe a team in the last round or two. That doesn’t feel like challenge.
Getting that far and failing because of poor champion tuning doesn’t make me want to rally and try again. It makes me want to turn the game off entirely.
Bungie, if you want these modes to be engaging content, they need fair champion distribution and rewards that respect player time. Right now, they’re just discouraging people from playing at all.
