I noticed today that the average concurrent players on steam has dropped below 20,000 already! With the scraper bot saying 350,000 logins the numbers look to be just as bad if not worse on console…
You have to remove the portal and the ridiculous levelling system…. Revert to the old system that gave people far more freedom… remove this tiered loot…. It’s the only way to save the game….

Arc Raiders launches 25th October, that's going to make a dent in what's left of the playerbase.

Well you know it is not just the portal. Power deltas, Having to play the hardest content just to get junk gear Bugs, Lack of new content Battle grounds are NOT strikes and dozens of other complaints over the last 2 years. Bungie wanted to make the game harder, they have made it all about difficulty and players, the 60% of players that are casual, are not lovin it!

Totally agree this system is pathetic every time I log on and see the portal I instantly get annoyed and hurry up to see the planets I would have bought the expansion already if it wasn’t for this new system. I still have the game downloaded because of the years of adapts from raids and trials I’ve acquired even the gear I have. They wanna help new players get into destiny remove the cosmodrome campaign throw players right into the shadow keep campaign and after the first mission have a cutscene to recap what happened before and spawn in the tower. I became a destiny player because of the creative mystery of the planets, running around Nessus for the very first time. Yes the game is a looter shooter but it had life and variety. Now it’s a portal…

Raid race yesterday, peak day of Saturday too, trials live as well, 340k 😳 It's dead after Xmas at this rate, dead serious

The fact that there is people arguing with you saying the game is great and NOT trolling, is just sad on them

You hit the nail on the head. The tiered armor and weapons, more so the weapons is what has ruined this game. All the progression to get high tiered armor. The game was better before. This whole tier system would have been fine in a destiny 3. Destiny 2 though hard no. I would have been playing the game if the old gear remained relevant and just as good. Ultimately. The game was better before, remove their tiered armor and weapons, remove the portal and make the game how it was before. It was better that way. So much better. I’d still be playing if it was like before. And they can still make expansions but remove power grind and just let us okay like we did pre eof.
-
sad to say it because i have loved playing this game over the years, but were at the end now boys. maybe in a few years if sony takes over these -blam!- running the show at bungie these days we might get a D3 but i wouldnt hold my breath.
-
I was playing this entire season, I hit 500 (501)....even I'm done now. The difficulty to get A at this power is stupid and the Ultimate Conwuest modifiers are just ridiculous. Im not doing this anymore. And Im sure as hell not grinding from 200 again. F that.

The removal of Tiered Loot is an incredibly bad idea.
-
Last night it really showed. Matchmaking for Fireteam was crazy slow. No players. If this keeps up the lights are going out. Bungie needs to unsenset our weapons and activities. There's so much potential here but it's a corpse. I've always loved FoL but it's not really a big activity. I think they should make this one epic. Not just a haunted lost sector and not just an event pay track. If it is we're cooked. I guess expecting more is ignoring the fact they either can't or won't.
I noticed today that the average concurrent players on steam has dropped below 20,000 already!
Saddest forum post of the day lol

Nope. Portal is the best thing that happened to this game. Pve players like to grind. A long grind makes players play pve more. Giving players too much freedom could possibly allow them to earn valuable loot in pvp, which makes them play pve less. Not good. Upgrades being tied to the portal, which is pve, is best for the game. You'll get used to it.
-
Last one out be sure to turn the lights off. Don't bother locking up.

Edited by TripleF73: 9/27/2025 9:33:48 AMI agree. However Bungie’s hubris is not going to allow them to revert course. It is, however, going to kill their studio, this franchise and their individual careers.

Renegades has to be what forsaken was for d2 to continue. If it doesn't pop, lights out.
-
I don't have anyone left that plays since this change. It honestly is baffling as to who green lit all this.
-
Yeah but with the epic raid on it has hit 27k, looks like everyone wanted to redo it again lol. The numbers have plummented and even dropped below 10k at times. They have got to do something to build the game back up.

Edited by Stalkholm: 9/27/2025 8:30:06 PM
remove this tiered loot….
I liked the idea of tiered loot at first, but that was before I got hundreds and hundreds of Tier 1, 2, and 3 filler loot. I liked the portal for the first few dozen hours, but that was until the modifiers and difficulty started getting tedious and frustrating. I liked the idea of squished Light Levels, but that was before I grinded for 100+ hours to get to LL360 and hit a brick walls called "Master" and "Grandmaster." Most of these systems were fun for me while they were new, but the newness wore off in a hurry, they just don't sustain me as a player the same way that boring old Seasonal Activities and Strikes did. I'm a casual player, and this system was crafted with the hardcore in mind, there's not much room for casual play in Master and Grandmaster content, even Onslaught is sweaty these days. I miss how chill the game used to be, the new game is not chill.

The level grind has traditionally been my favorite part of the game. I was excited to see it coming back. But the lack of ways to achieve it and the hideous scoring system have made levelling up tedious and pointless. Levelling up in essence makes you weaker rather than stronger, as it forces you into continually harder activities, without adding any strength to your character. I can't come up with any reason why Bungie would think anyone wanted this. Still, I'd rather them fix it than ditch it. The portal crap can go, but I dunno... maybe make levelling matter?

Edited by Meaga: 9/27/2025 10:46:03 PMThey are very obviously going the COD route if engagement optimizations to increase the likelihood of money spending in game. Examples: The portal The light leveling G R I N D Forced 50/50 win loss matchmaking Only being able to complete conquest once for the loot shower they give Making things like raids super hard to get high like loot from, they did this because they would be super effective otherwise They’re trying to lock people in for long enough so they feel better about dropping $20 on something like a taken shader. Other games have done this before, their intention is pretty clear
-
Unsurprising given the game is an absolute wreck.
-
Not surprised it collapsed bungie released an expansion worse than curse of Osiris and expected people to like it
-
When I do pop on to check on things the matchmaking isn’t the best it’s been
-
Edited by GreenRangerzGo: 9/27/2025 3:46:33 PMCool with tier loot, you don’t need to have to hoard material to enhance guns now, but it should be with every activity. They already reskin and reissue all the weapons and armor on this game, just refresh the perks and new little shader put everything in the tier system. Would it suck regrinding for things you already have, yes, but at least you could play whatever you wanted and still leveled up.

I’m sure tapir doesn’t help.
