I know there are tons of other posts like this, and I know many disagree or are just quick to say "see you later" and all. But I hope is some small way adding my post helps. When I realized I was only playing to finish the pass because I paid for it, I knew I was done but love the game enough to at least say something.
The grind as it is - not fun. I'm ok with the tiers, but the cost to upgrade makes it a real slog.
The modifiers - not fun or exciting. I have not even attempted anything after master as it seems more frustrating than anything else as a mainly solo player
PVP - Crapshow with the way hunters 2 shot everything ;) In all seriousness the TTK is so low right now I feel like I'm playing hardcore COD
I'll play if they make some solid changes in time for the pass, otherwise I'll join so many others adding this one to the ones we used to love but no longer support pile

Edited by PandaPapa146: 9/27/2025 12:18:47 AMA lot of honest feedback in here…it sums up the current state of things… Love Destiny…despair of what Sony/BHQ have done to it, and appear to be just making even more bad moves at every turn…which, in turn, is driving away legions of reasonable Guardians, who have literally given up the ghost! 👿 This old tortoise has just hit 450 on H / W / T - aside from collecting tier 5 loot from Crucible, there’s nothing else that appeals…the Neomuna Overtuna -30 / -40 portaloo stuff is of no interest whatsoever. Nor is the re-hashed ‘70% Cheater’ event… SMH 🙄 Am actively looking around for something new to wile* away a few hours…haven’t found anything yet that appeals… I have done WF (MR 24) and am done with it…plus I’ve peaked into a few ‘headline’ titles - but nothing has the pull that D1 had…🤔 No problemo! This old tortoise is in no particular hurry - one way or t’other. 😁 Note to Self: Keep Calm and Carry On 👈 That is all. Ease Springs! 🖖 *autobot error correction 👻

Now that guy who fired half of staff so he could steal their money is gone, hopefully with Sony calling the shots things will start to improve. They've seen the mobile game's success, and the mobile game basically took all of the input people have given bungie over the years and made a game out of it. Well look at that, it's successful, who would have thought? Hope Sony deals with the management, the dev team, I think, knows what they're doing, they're just being kneecapped by absolute awful management.

They have done everything they can do remove the fun, we used to have so much to do within the game but now there is nothing but the portal. The bounties and weekly vendors gave us variety to our gae play now is just just spinning the wheel over and over. The only fun this week has been the wells in the portal changes things up a bit but doing the same thing over and over is crazy.

For PvP, it’s simple (I am a PvP player) the game is clearly a pve game. And dev time is small. They can’t even keep there pve game in check. Can’t expect anything for PvP they don’t care about that player base. There like leeching on those players because there hooked they have been spitting on that side of the player base since shadow keep. So let’s all stop complaining about what it is. Currently Bungie dev have a hate for PvP players and want us to shut up and spend are money. If you don’t accept that truth what your doing here.

You're not alone according to online over 80% of the players on this game have left destiny 2.... I have a feeling bungee is going to get a wake up call and fix this game back to as good as it was because if they don't they're leading it to its own destruction
-
I checked out too. And that was only after playing for a month, after a 2 year break. They absolutely ruined this game

The Bootlickers are going to come at You😂😂

Edited by Dooodley: 9/27/2025 7:29:28 AMHavent played in three days , logged on...and was bored by what was presented to me and the knowledge of the terrible power grind before I could even start an activity. It's just the same boring crap on repeat and in the event that we actually see some power progression - which typically takes like 30 activities - it doesnt do anything anyway. We're still forced to play at the same deltas to see any progress. What the hell happened to the company that made Halo 2/3/Reach??? Perhaps it's time to take a step back.
The modifiers - not fun or exciting. I have not even attempted anything after master as it seems more frustrating than anything else as a mainly solo player
I don't really know what Bungie was thinking with the modifiers system. If I had to guess, I'd say they want us to vary the way we play, they were meant to make the content feel "fresh" even though we'd played through the same Solo Op (or whatever) a hundred times before - but they don't do that, they don't make the content feel fresh, we're still fighting the same enemies in the same location, only this time they release Screeblings when they die. If modifiers were the sole way of making gameplay more difficult I might be more understanding, except we're being pushed into Master and Grandmaster level content, too, so we're being asked to double dip the difficulty. The modifiers do make content harder, but that's not really my idea of fun, I'm one of those weirdos who plays video games to relax, not to sweat. So I've put in 1.5 hours of gameplay in the last two weeks, mostly in the Shooting Range to test out changes and see if that gets me interested. The loot isn't enticing me, the armor doesn't excite me, there's not much to look forward to or get excited about, and the moment I remember that I need to do Master level difficulty with half a dozen modifiers to get new and better loot, I lose my interest in playing.

There’s way too little loot -specifically weapons. The tiered system makes this feel worse not better. Being able to enhance any new weapon was better, IMO. Crafting was waaaay better. The activities are boring. Too repetitive. Unrewarding in meaningful ways. The power grid is stupidly annoying. Worst thing ever in destiny. Fixed rolls was less annoying than this. Slow Crucible was less annoying. It’s that bad. Again, IMO. There’s maybe 2 good things in the portal/new loot system. But they are not enough to overcome the rest of the trashcan nonsense in the game rn. I want more new weapons. Not like a few per weapon family, like 3-4 new Pulse Rifles, Autos, SMGs, HC, Scouts… etc each szn/update. By all means bring some recycled stuff forward from D1 trials&IB for a start. I’d love another go round with a Parthian Shot from Vanguard QM. I want fun stuff to shoot with the new weps. That’s it. Fun things to shoot, lots of new guns and a simple power grind if any. That would keep me more interested than anything I’ve experienced in the past 2 updates.

This game is unplayable now and the power grind is the most boring thing I have ever played. I played the current activity and all of a sudden it became insanely difficult to combat the horde of ads , multiple ships, and bosses that suddenly appeared. I'm 453 power and all of our 10 revives were wiped in like a minute. The activity was unplayable due the difficulty level and we didn't finish the activity bc we wiped. I have played 100s of GM and never encounter a GM this difficult to play. I immediately quit playing the game. Insanely increasing the activity difficulty will not motivate me to continue playing, it will make me quit the game. And for what, for some tier 4 gear. No thank you Read the room Bungie!!! The game is dying and everyone is quitting the game due to all the garbage changes you have made. Reward players for investing their time in the game bc right now it feels like you are forcing players to quit the game. I'll see if bungie implements positive changes to the game in the next major update but i will not play the game in it's current state.

Yep starting to lose intrest from a 10 year + vet. Hate matchmaking a simple fireteam ops just to run out of time or lives. WHY are limited lives and locked loadouts on EVERYTHING. Why are limited lives on activites with very little Champs or jumping puzzles.

Edited by Mark, Scholar of Stars: 9/27/2025 5:11:35 PMFinishing the reward passes. For me, that's all of what's left. I bought "Year of Prophecy" in good faith, but after it, I'm done. Definitely. What I do now with this routine (finishing the reward passes) is so basic that I don't need any further DLC again. And also no further reward passes. I generate XP with planetary vendors. I can't stand the Portal. Another letdown is that seasonal challenges are also predominantly linked to the Portal. And Banshee-44 is selling minus two bounties per day. It's enough. Edit: I know Bungie is busy with developing Marathon and maintaining Destiny: Rising. It isn't the first time they shifted their workforce to other projects, but how that worked out is well known. I'm tired of seeing them treating Destiny 2 like a cash grab and a hobby. Everything was approved, the complete "new" agenda of Destiny 2. Planned and activated, no matter. "No matter," because the game has never in its history had so many complaints (!) as it has now since "Edge of Fate," persistently ignored by its developer. That's also an answer. Tyson Green—no offense—was just enhanced "in pretense" as game director. He's practically nonexistent; no wonder he's that restrained.
-
Honestly outside of events this game has become completely boring due to the removal of the weekly rotation which is made worse by the fact that everything outside of the Portal gives dogshit rewards.
-
Same feeling as most. I spent the prior year or more literally just doing fireteam finder to help people do GM and exotic missions. This portal is just the worst thing they’ve done to the game for me. Just hate that I don’t want to play. Sucks
-
I'm in the 380s. I have no idea why but solo GM difficulties seem easier than Master. I don't pay attention to the time and have no problem reaching an A score. Don't give up yet.
-
I'm literally only playing the game because I already paid for it. After this year, and I'm only going to participate in Renegades if the content is decent, I'm out. I can't take it anymore. The game is just in an unplayable state for me. It's exhausting.
-
In D1 you could do everything for the week and still have plenty to do afterwards. D2 is so boring now 😒
-
I’m literally just hanging by a thread …I play control now and again . Just played 3 games in control all mercy wins for other team and loads of outbreaks…just tedious man and getting less -blam!- was worth it logging in 🤷🏼♂️
-
I keep checking in to see if anything’s changed and I’m then playing other things, just wish they could turn this thing around and make it enjoyable again
-
Could be a build issue. I see a lot of people complaining lately who seem to struggle with that. These ain’t a space CoD, without build crafting the game sucks even more than it does rn. If this forum had sticky threads I wouldn’t mind posting some « build 101 » advice.

I get how your feeling

I want to be able to enjoy it. I want to be able to enjoy playing through the whole story again since the light and dark saga is over. But I can’t. Because they took out so much of the story that I can never truly play through it again. Besides red war and the first DLC’s, there is so much that was added by the seasons throughout the years, and it’s all gone. It’s truly a shame, because I can’t really find it in myself to recommend this game to anybody. Because there is so much that they would miss out on.

I kept the game installed and logged in once a week to get items from the Bright Dust shop but realized that I am not playing any longer so any earn-able cosmetics are completely useless to bother picking up. So, I uninstalled weeks ago and honestly I don't regret it. If through some miracle Bungie sees the error of their ways and completely turns the game around, then it would still not be worth waiting through these rough times for such meager offerings when there are tons of more enjoyable games out there.
