Right now you can run ultimate for tier 5 loot at A or even A+ at a delta of 0 or even +10-20 if you are smart with the customise option for the modifiers.
So how is forcing a -30 delta at all times supposed to be making it easier?
-
Bungie: We hear you loud and clear, so we decided to bump it -50. Buy more eververse :)

Like raising the price of something by 30%, then having a 30% off sale -
It can never be just "Here is better loot" its always gotta be "Here is better loot but you now gotta sit on this cactus for no apparent reason"
-
Yea, the modifiers not increasing power is good. Forced delta with no over leveling is a big nerf. Now light level means literally nothing.
-
All of this makes more sense once you realize the people making these tweaks don’t even play the actual endgame. They’ll just keep fiddling with the difficulty dials on these broken systems until the engagement numbers make it blatantly obvious the game isn’t recovering. They’ve already lost 90% of their active players. This Bungie “Destiny maintenance team” has turned into a complete disaster. And lmao, the game literally had double the engagement during the so-called dead period before the EoF launch. Honestly, this team deserves a round of applause for pulling off the most effective set of changes ever designed to push players away from a franchise.

Edited by Racket UK: 9/26/2025 7:11:11 PMFor me cabals watch is -40 with matchmaking, with all the incoming burn on top as well, and i need A rank to get +1, B+ is useless. Bungie is Brain Dead lol. I'd rathar watch a snail race lol, see you next week, when race is finished lol

Bungie is progressing, they at least posted a contract role for game tester. So assuming someone at Bungie will actually play their game sometime soon, I'm hoping feedback gets passed up the chain forcing power deltas is a nerf and removes even the slightest incentive to hit 450, 500, 550, etc. At ~480, I can run an activity at power and still get T5s super quick and in a casual way, which partially justifies the aweful grind while reaching this stage.
-
Right now if your using match making. For Ultimate, its a -40 Delta. And it's being reduced to a -30. In that sense. The change is a buff to match making. But. On the other side. Making it so all custom made ones are -30 as well. Would be a big nerf. They called the changes to custom a cap, but did not refer to the changes to match making as a cap. So I'm just confused as to whether this means that custom is set to -30, or capped at -30. There is a rather big difference between those.

I absolutely agree with OP. The system is flawed from the start. Why would you double down on it. Portal and grinding for power is already the worst part of the current sandbox. No one is really enjoying playing the game with no hud, no ammo, no rez.. And now you re telling us you re adding 30delta on top of it. At least with the current flawed system, i can still play with friends who are under me.. Now you re saying if i invite someone to my group they have to play -30 activities we have to repeat hundreds of times. get the F*o @500+ you get +1 power level only if you achieve rank A reward in pvp.. why dont you fix that kind of issues instead of making our gaming experience more miserable with every patches.

The only people it's benefitting are the ones doing match made fireteam ops. Everything else is suffering. The only way this could benefit anything else is if the scoring is increased to accommodate no longer being able to overlevel. If we should be forced to do -30 on everything, then we shouldn't have to turn on any modifiers to get A tier rewards regardless of our level.
-
It's not, it's to farm engagement this benefits literally nothing in the portal as is if you know how to setup your modifiers/work around them.
-
Smoke & mirrors again, boost people to 300 so they come back, with promises of easier levelling, then cripple them secretly. Regardless of anything they do now the content is old, stale, punishingly difficult, & simply not fun, with rewards not worth the pain & a system that makes it's harder the higher you level. Awful company, game has never been worse regarding simply day to day play.
-
I think the question should be “what’s the point of power if we’re always playing at a delta”
-
It seems to me that their plan was/is to make leveling up into a status thing that deliberately makes it where only the "best" players - or who don't mind getting carried by the best players - can reach max level. Path of Exile 2 has a similar system. But unlike PoE2, Destiny has no real way to improve your character in order to make those things easier. Once you hit 500, it's just a d*ck-waving contest after that. Even that would be fine, though, if we weren't talking about a game people have already been playing for over a decade. Many of us remember the early days where everything in Destiny felt obtainable with a bt of patience and persistance. I don't know if it's the influence of games like Dark Souls, but the last few years have seen more and more very difficult activities enter the game. It was frustrating for more casual players, but at least those activities were optional. For the 10% of the player base that played GMs, the adept weapons were a nice reward. I have a few myself. But that all changed with this latest expansion. For reasons I'll never understand, they took the sort of activities 90% of the player base avoided, and made them the entire focus of the game. Everything we've done up until now, has been to get to this. You're welcome. But look on the bright side: If you get on Twitch, you can watch other people do - by questionable means - the content you can't. And really, isn't that what video games are all about? Playing vicariously?

Edited by Hræsvelgr: 9/27/2025 4:13:01 PMCheese Forever did the video that breaks it down really well. Bungie lies, again. Big surprise. If Sony does not fire the people making these bad decisions then it’ll be the end of Destiny 2. It’s a realistic expectation for the servers to be taken down in 2026 at this rate. Remember, this is all due to the decisions made at Bungie.

There's 2 things that must be at play, and both explanations are bad; 1 - Deliberate Nerf They are consciously making the game more obnoxious but DMG is gaslighting the whole community by telling us Deltas are better for us. 2 - Lack of Awareness They are so out of touch with how their own game works that they genuinely believe Deltas is better. Whichever one of these is true doesnt really matter, both are equally as bad.
-
Its not and they know it, just spinning it as an improvement so they can still effectively slow your progress. They were obviously not willing to actually make the power grind faster, but were forced to make changes due to all the negative feedback and steep decline in player population, this is their way of evening it out since will take longer clear an activity on average with a permanent -30 delta.
-
Hardly the first time they’ve call a nerf a buff and as usual the BDF are out in force saying it’s not a problem.
-
I genuinely don’t understand their thought process… We spend 100s of hours grinding power but never feel any benefit of it… beyond absurd!!
-
The streamers have been at 450 or more for weeks. That's all they care about is making sure they get free advertising. The game has sucked rotten eggs since hitting 450. I've clawed my way to 460 and there is little interest in playing content that fosters misery for barely any loot.
-
I think the main issue that I have with the TWID is that they are trying to sell this as a BUFF. It is very insulting.....I guess Bungie thinks they have changed it so much that we will not notice that it is NERF and not a BUFF.....The smoke and mirrors trick,....
-
well, it will make it easier because with the new system you will not have to play as long as right now. Once you hit 470, with the new system they talked about in the recent twab, you can just leave and uninstall the game. Because, with the new system, "power" grinding to 550 is bascially useless. But seriously, the only times where I had to play solo ops at like maybe -40 or so, was a few a runs around the 399 to 400 power level mark, but that also was back when the new system just came out and it's way easier now. I honestly believe, those players who complain about having to run -60 for a +1 are just adding -20 modifiers to get an A+ score, but ignore stuff like locked loadout, no starting ammo, pressure cooker, ... Otherwise I have no explanation for why...
-
No reason to power past 470 with the deltas. Now the power system is completely useless. Customs games shouldn't have deltas, okay with matchmaking though.
-
I mean, kind of how it should be. Locked standard power per difficulty, just like GMs were. I rather have a locked standard power delta and not have to power grind. Easier to enjoy the game with friends. Over friends being 450+ and I don’t have the time to hit those levels. Etc

Yall still having Fun🤡🤡
