Théoden’s final war speech, film version;
“Arise, arise, Riders of Théoden!
Spear shall be shaken, shield shall be splintered,
a sword-day, a red day, ere the sun rises!
Ride now, ride now, ride! Ride for ruin and the world's ending!
Death! Death! Death!
Forth Eorlingas!”
Hits me every time. Hits hard, right in the heart.
For comparison, the book version;
“Arise, arise, Riders of Rohan!
Fell deeds awake: fire and slaughter!
Spear shall be shaken, shield be splintered,
a sword-day, a red day, ere the sun rises!
Ride now, ride now! Ride to Gondor!”

“You can’t let a youngun’ decide for himself. He’ll grab at the first flashy-with-shiny-ribbons-on-it-thing he sees. It’s difficult for him to tell the difference between right and wrong. When he finds out there’s a hook in it, it’s too late. The wrong kinds of things come packaged in so much glitter, it’s hard to convince him that the other thing might be better in the long run. All a parent can do is say, “Wait…trust me”…and try to keep temptation away.” - Andy Griffith

Treasure of the Sierra Madre. "If you're Federales, where are your badges?" "Badges? We ain’t got no badges! We don’t need no badges! I don’t have to show you any stinking badges!” Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid. "Hell, the fall will probably kill you." Babylon 5. "Zathros can never have anything nice." Cool Hand Luke. "What we have here is failure to communicate." Cold Comfort Farm. "I saw something nasty in the woodshed." Young Frankenstein. "Hump? What hump?"

Having recently played Elden Ring for the first time, I really found the lines that Morgott/Margit said to be some of my favorite. The way the VA enunciates the lines really hit hard even when they don’t have much weight. “Foul tarnished, in search of the Elden Ring. Emboldened by the flame of ambition. Someone must extinguish thy flame. Let it be Margit, the Fell!” “Thy kind are all of a piece. Pillagers, emboldened by the flame of ambition. Have it writ upon thy meagre grave: Felled by King Morgott, last of all kings!” These two lines, when I played the game, hit so hard for some reason.

"When someone dies if it's anywhere they go it's in your memories and so long as you remember they're never truly gone" Kaim from lost Odyssey "A story doesn't need to be true to be believed it just needs to be told and I tell that story a lot" Janey springs from the borderlands pre sequel

Edited by The First Aifos: 9/25/2025 11:32:14 PM
"..How can we go on like this?" The thing's voice was distorted now. Barely hanging on. "Living in a world full of so much suffering? Isn't that the question we're all just looking for the answer to? Is there an answer..?" Then, the entire scene shattered, leaving them standing in front of the Keep, with a familiar dark path back to the Bastion.
-The Heart of the World, by Michael Tillotson
And no, I don't care if that's cheating. :p I don't know if I have an actual single favorite quote. If I had more time I'd probably stop and make a list instead (might still later, maybe). This was one of the first to come to mind, though.
Edited by Hyperion724: 9/25/2025 10:47:41 PMThree quotes I like. One from a show, one from a game, one from a movie. "The body is nothing more than a vessel. Your heart, your soul is who you truly are. And you determine the nature of your soul. You and you alone." -Alice, Sword Art Online "A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky, dangerous animals and you know it. Fifteen hundred years ago everybody knew that the Earth was the center of the universe. Five hundred years ago everybody KNEW the Earth was flat. And fifteen minutes ago you knew we were alone on this planet. Imagine what you'll know tomorrow." -Agent K, Men In Black "Your society is based upon the technology of the Mass Relays. Our technology. By using it, your society develops along the paths we desire. We impose order on the chaos of organic life. You exist because we allow it, and you will end because we demand it." -Sovereign, Mass Effect. A few of the many quotes I like.

There's so much to choose from I doubt I could narrow it down to just one. I quote various forms of media so often it probably makes up a third of my lexicon.
