I'm watching this movie for the............*counting on fingers......runs out of fingers........not important how many times* and one thing that sticks with me: Nothing about it has aged poorly. The fight choreography, the music, even the questionable acting stands to this day.
Am I the only one who thinks so? More importantly, what movie does anyone else think is underrated cinematic gold? No judgement (maybe a little), just spit them out.

Breaking Away is a gem. Saw it in the theater when it first came out. The audience actually stood up at the end, clapping and cheering. Never experienced that before or since.

Don't know if it's underrated but I don't see people talk much about Babe these days. Easily one of my favorite movies. To this day, any time I see James Cromwell in a movie I instantly think of Farmer Hoggett.

Had to look it up, definitely something I want to check out!

Encino Man. The movie has lots of silliness and a ridiculous plot. An earthquake reveals a caveman frozen in a block of ice. A pair of friends thaw him out. Shenanigans ensue. Sean Astin does his typical character type well. Pauly Shore is...well...Pauly Shore. Brendan Fraser knocks it out of the park. He's underrated when it comes to comedy. The crazier the plot, the better he seems to get. He's always a favourite actor of mine.

Edited by eeriearcade: 9/19/2025 8:33:25 PMTwo came to mind… Watership Down (1978) Not sure that it’s underrated, but it seems to have been forgotten over the years (and replaced by the more recent Netflix version). It’s an incredible work of art to me. I even have a book of stills from the film. Very powerful and moving. Legend (1985) I wouldn’t call it cinematic gold, but it’s a nice and cosy film for a rainy Sunday afternoon. Deserves more love than it gets, imo.
I’m sorry, I haven’t seen The Last Dragon.
Underrates movies? Hm... Well, the first one to spring to mind is Long Way North. It wasn't, like, the best movie ever or anything, and as far as I'm aware there aren't people going around hating on it, but I also haven't seen anyone else aside from myself ever mention it. It was pretty fun, though. Nice art style, decent enough story. Deserves more recognition than it got, methinks. I think Raya and the Last Dragon also gets more hate than it deserves. The movie definitely has some issues, but I think it was enjoyable enough for what it was trying to be, and while the actual story being told is whatever, the worldbuilding around it, and the general vibe of the aesthetic is really great. It just didn't have the time it needed to properly develop most of the characters. Was it great? Well, no. Should've been a TV show instead of a movie. But was it terrible? Also no. It had some cool action sequences, a fun world, and a neat aesthetic, and I'd love to see it in Kingdom Hearts.
