Just admit you hate Rise of Iron and dont want to acknowledge its existence

I am so sick of Bungie trying to incorporate Siva into the game but so ADAMANTLY REFUSING to acknowledge that Rise of Iron even existed. Seriously like you have articles where they dance around the subject and its frustrating, on the other hand they treat it like it never happened in game. Just admit you hate it and your not going to bring back that content so your players dont get let down even more than you have already let them down in these past 2 years. But then you couldn't sell microtransactions of Siva skins could you because people would know Siva isn't coming back despite it being the arguably best story decision Bungie ever did. I find it ironic that a smaller dev team created the most iconic and best dlc of Destiny's history (right next to Taken King) when the main team suck so badly, case and point Lightfall and Witch Queen, and all the year 1 and 2 bs. Like we all know the only reason Destiny 1 hasn't been ported to PC is because it would kill Destiny 2's player numbers. I feel like its common sense by now. You cant even say its because Rise of Iron was "small", Rise of Iron had more content and story than Lightfall did, Hell Root of Nightmares has NOTHING on Wrath of The Machine, replace one with the other and no one would ever even bat a eye. They are only adding in Siva skins to placate people who wanted Siva weapons back, I mean they didn't even give Gjallarhorn its most iconic skin because then they'd have to admit Rise of Iron actually existed. Need I remind you that Bungie cut off a huge chunk of players when they swapped from PS3 to PS4 and refused to sell Rise of Iron on PS3, this was the flagship last Destiny 1 DLC that lead into Destiny 2. Almost like this money hungry exclusion of content was something they did even back then. Or maybe its because Bungie wanted Rasputin to play a bigger role but had to ignore the fact that Rasputin murdered thousands of Guardians and almost every single Iron Lord and that Saladin would kill him the instant he got the chance for what he did. Oh and Saladin isn't "The Last Iron Lord". Lady Efrideet is still alive. God they butchered Saladin's character... This type of bs reconning and obvious ignorance of player feedback is why so many people are just quitting after Final Shape because so many people just want closure to this story and then to move the hell on already. Rise of Iron content has been the HIGHEST requested returning content since the game launched, and I dont blame anyone for hating Rasputin because they know he is still kinda secretly a genocidal maniac that unleashed Siva on purpose and mass murdered thousands of Guardians. Hey maybe Rasputin is the Darkness, wouldn't that be a fun plot twist.

  • They called D1 “comic book zero” and D2 a soft reboot. So yeah…they already admitted that they don’t like D1,

  • If only they hadn’t directly addressed the slaughter of the Iron Lords multiple times within the lore and game. (The Lie, Season of the Seraph). The issue is the closer to Final Shape we got, the less it made sense to take a SIVA detour. Don’t get me wrong, there’s still some unforgivable oversights like the Cosmodrome port only slightly recognising the changes from Rise of Iron.

      • Replayed d1 a few months ago. Imo it sucked. The only thing better was weapon balancing as it felt like scouts and pulse rifles were usable instead of exclusively hand cannons.

Roi was ass. It’s understandable that they’d ignore it.

SIVA was always a mid filler arc. Bungie obviously wrote SIVA as a one and done event (we literally destroyed the one place new SIVA was produced for -blam!- sake). The only reason they dance around the subject is because of weird gaming chair color obsessed cultists that refuse to move on.

Have you played destiny 1 recently? I’ve been playing through it and the campaigns and you’re just looking at the game with nostalgia. It’s wayyyy worse than destiny 2.

Except season of seraph was a Rise Of Iron prequel , showing why Rasputin killed the Iron Lord's because of Felwinter

          • I don't care what anyone says in my opinion The Taken King will always be the best expansion and has a good story.

          • It’s kinda difficult to speculate, but fun nonetheless lol. I liked Rise of Iron. It had a more somber almost gloomy mood. It showed Saladin as this loner trying to keep the memory of his dead friends alive. The recluse of the mountain. Well he had his wolves, but still. The winter landscape with the dotted orange lit areas for contrast was a nice touch. The music underlined the mood very well. Idk, for some reason it wasn’t the direction they wanted to keep going. Perhaps it was too dark. The former good guys turned into siva techno zombies you have to fight … not the optimistic glowing heroism they advertise in the tower. For all the terrible stuff that gets mentioned in exposition or in lore, destiny is usually rather PG when it comes to what is shown graphically in game. Especially when it comes to humans. Cayde’s death was probably as close as they got, but he’s a robot and it was all clean and heroic on his part with jokes and all. All the really messed up stuff he went through in his past was all in lore, nicely tugged away were no one but a small subculture would read it. Same with all the evil crap Clovis perpetrated. More likely though it’s just the general rewriting and reset that Destiny went through multiple times that left it in a jumble from the get go. They’re trying to tie up lose ends here and there, but they’re running out of time. I’m kinda curious how final shape is handling “the end of everything “. So far I don’t feel particularly threatened by the witness. He’s just a weird dude that’s slightly mental. Maybe Cayde’s perspective of it all will help to give it some emotion.
