Bungie , your matchmaking description in QP lies to us...

Just like the rest of the BS you're feeding us. Matchmaking : "tries to make as lopsided trash matchs as possible" is the correct text you should use. Oh my freaking god it's som seriously pisspoor, bad, frustrating, garbage Matchmaking were back to, with this new "shitty-system" you've made. God awful. 🤢

    In Destiny 2, you don’t just “win some and lose some”, the problem is objectively bigger and needs to be addressed. Bungie themselves has acknowledged recently, that their metrics show that the game has a serious issue composing matches, and is thankfully trying to address it. Likely, it is an issue that has been left unattended for far too long and can’t, or will be difficult to fix, due to the game not being able to accurately assess a player’s individual skill. I can boot up any game on the market and have better matches, and play better individually, than I can on a game that I have close to a decade of experience playing. This is on top of the fact that I’ve had exceedingly better experiences in Destiny 1, and earlier iterations of Destiny 2. Destiny is a game with fast and diverse movement options for disengagement, with high time to kill. These things combined, make it very difficult for a solo player on a the losing team, to close out engagements without being double teamed, or stacked. Most of the time a superior player can simply be swarmed resulting in death, or at best a trade… unless they choose the alternative… To play in a way that is not only boring(to myself and many other players), but counterintuitive to both team play/the objective: Run, hide, ambush. This is only way to play when the chips are down(and they are for many of us), in a game that has thousands of options and different players, utilizing different styles, that can be augmented by character abilities. Being forced into the “run, hide, & ambush” box or getting repeatedly dominated for trying to actually play the objective, is not a fun experience, and it has resulted in what I believe is the largest player drop in the franchise’s history, with Bungie facing a potential takeover by their parent company Sony. There is hope however, they could institute a global stat reset for the entire community, and for a short period Institute fairly rigid skill-based matchmaking(which I am normally opposed to) to determine where the entire community is in terms of skill. Once the data has been collected, completely shut off skill based matchmaking, and convert to outlier protection, with a more solid lobby balancing algorithm based on the skill data that they accumulated. Of course, they need to publicly, more clearly admit the issue of terrible MM, provide data, and outline a timeline for the fix. If not this will end in the worst player drop in the franchise’s history, in a time when entire other games literally live on their PVP offering alone. Destiny 2, for all its issues is a blast to play, and it’s a shame how un-fun it is when matches so dramatically favor one team over another.

  • D1 never had this problem and to this day has more functional matchmaking than d2.
