I think it might be a symbolic grave for Akka, given that the entire ship is Akka's husk, and the tablet of ruins was created/discovered after Akka was killed by Oryx

Not sure, it does look like an eclipse. I feel like it's supposed to represent the Taken somehow

Hmm, an eclipse would be symbolic of how the Darkness overtakes the Light when Taking someone. The dynamic between Light and Darkness was different back then, in the TTK era. Darkness was originally corrupted Light. So Taking was corrupting the purity of that entity’s Light into Darkness. So an eclipse is a great icon of that. As the moon (darkness) moves into and overtakes the sun (light) Darkness wasn’t changed to be natural until the Forsaken/SK era. Bungie spilled the beans prior to base D2 releasing, when they admitted they still hadn’t figured out what Darkness was yet.

  • It won’t be bad per se. People who have really read into the lore won’t be shocked by the twist but they did mention something I thought they had dropped that’s interesting. About us being able to use both powers. That goes back to the D1 concept art showing the black fleet in Egypt near some pyramids, implying they had been here before. To keep it short, there was early speculation that Humanity was part of the Black Fleet and our Guardian was actually one of the Darkness baddies, intentionally revived to turn against the Darkness. A sort of mirror to the Hive story in the BoS. They turned against the Sky because the worm tricked them. So take away the trickery, would they turn against the Sky again? Cause the OG storyline was supposed to end with us sacrificing our power to stop the Darkness, as Light would always be corruptible and become a threat again.

  • The Gardener made Light and Darkness, they are based on cosmic rules. You can not defeat Darkness, it’s part of the universe. That means she made the conflict possible and has done nothing to guide people to being responsible or avoiding slaughter, allowing untold genocide and suffering. Like when the Traveler arrived and didn’t warn us? She knowingly allowed our Collapse. That will likely be one part of the twist, the other is the resolution. Beyond Light and Lightfall have slow walked revealing the two powers are intertwined and Prismatic is the big reveal in game about that. The OG had the Gardener somehow going away, either we killed her or sacrifices herself. Taking all paracausal power away. This new ending shouldn’t not involve killing her, instead it should be some sort of sacrifice. Ghosts are made from parts of her consciousness, so to make enough for Guardians to keep fighting for eternity? And to remove the danger of someone else taking her power and ruling the cosmos? She’ll need to make a lot more Ghosts and somehow mitigate the threat of another baddie threatening to take her power. Best way would be to sacrifice herself by making Ghosts and sending them out to make more Guardians to defend the cosmos. That’s what I’m assuming. There’s little direct lore about the Gardener except for Beyond Light, she talks to Clovis Bray. So based on what that convo showed about her personality and the direction of the lore, that’s how I see it ending. I’ve followed it since they first announced they were making the game. I don’t remember everything but the ending was hinted at in D1 and from base D2 on, they’ve hinted at it. So they kinda tipped their hand. In base D1 there was this card. https://www.ishtar-collective.net/cards/the-darkness#ulan-tan Ulan-Tan was carried over into D2. There was a location on Io and gear expanding on his theory. https://www.ishtar-collective.net/entries/symmetry-flight#ulan-tan And later after SK dropped this item came out https://www.ishtar-collective.net/entries/symmetry?highlight=Symmetry Now they didn’t know what Darkness was in base D2 but they still were actively rewriting the story, so they needed an Ending to work towards. And of all the theories about the Darkness, this was the only one to carry over and get referenced repeatedly. Now I’m a writer myself. So I see the methods and tricks they use to breadcrumb the truth and also misdirect. So I take it all in and go from there. If you want to dive the lore, use Ishtar Collective. They have some nice in-depth summaries and have the best collection of lore available. Just avoid a YT guy named Evaze, he makes stuff up.

  • Honestly I don't really have any evidence besides the facts that the tablet is supposed to give to power to create Taken and an eclipse looks kind of Takeny lol
