This is not a good idea because some people have asburd amount of legendary shards. Some do not. People should not be punished just because they didn't hoard shards.

Except that this would not punish anyone, no one would force you to use that method. It just would give veteran players (who are most likely the ones playing this event more) a means of getting a few extra rolls while using up their excess of shards which they have earnt over the past few years

How are you not understanding lol... people who don't have a tonne of shards miss out on the trophies. So it's better to not add this feature. You have hoarded those shards because they are useless. They will be leaving the game because they are useless. So just ignore them.
