I get what you're going for with crates. Another objective on the map to draw attention, players who aren't able to get kills with their primary still have a path to special, etc etc. but they just aren't good. I think the original system was better than this - just spawning with special. The meter is the best by far. Switching ammo systems creates moments of confusion which feel atrocious. It feels like there isn't time to go out of your way to get ammo, therefore you can either only get it when you happen to be nearby, i.e. not an objective, or you have to split from your team. Boxes mess with the flow of combat. With the meter you engaged people and earned special that way. With the boxes you either don't have it, or you have to leave the engagement to go get it. Overall, boxing aren't it. The meter was a great system. Iterate on it.
