I would like to see a setting to toggle the text. I could see the text being visible helpful for new players, but would be nice to just have the symbol once we know what each one means.

And there are a lot of symbols they can use, like most if not all Exotic perks have a unique symbol tied to their specific trait, although it's 100% easier to just use a couple of basic symbols for exotics in general.
