Bigger worry is bungie tune the whole game to this, making not having peak builds a huge issue. It's already at the stage where if you're not at trying to build into something you're getting wrecked in a lot of content, Devs even said as much. Make a build & the game is easy, don't & it's hell. I think datto tested this out recently running a GM with no exotics & said it was unbearable
