It isn’t fair to blame Bungie here, these weapons were in popular demand blame the people who asked for them back.

  • Bungie is the one that sunset because they didn't want to try and keep up with the loot pool they created, then years later admitting it was a mistake. Even using the pinnacles as the main excuse for it. But now all of a sudden they've figured out how to nerf master of arms, magnificent howl and micro-missile? No they are lazy and trying to throw us a nastalgic bone to forget about their bad practices making them delay the next big expansion delay. Their decisions have drove away millions upon millions of players.

  • They talked about how Mountaintop and Recluse were dominating loadouts to the point that people wouldn't take you in their group for anything pve related if you didn't have one or both of those weapons. Yeah they sunset a bunch of weapons but they were all legendaries so it's not a big deal. And Bungie did NOT "drive away millions upon millions of players". That is exceptionally hyperbolic.

  • Compare todays player counts to just a year ago, even better go back 3 or 4 years

  • I have. "Millions ipon millions of players" have not left the game. Your statement is beyond idiotic.

  • Nerfing is the other way to tackle power creep and balance the sandbox, I prefer sunsetting for most legendaries.

  • It’s not the sunsettng as much as bringing back the exact same weapon and then Bungie pretending like we should be happy about it

Blame me all you want I want my midnight coup back. And the only reason we are probably getting them at all is because the vast majority of the work to make them is done. They really just needed to make the models compatible with the engine and slap new perks on them. Besides hype for some random dinker guns nobodies heard of would be likely be way lower. It is, at least from an interest perspective, a good call. Even if sunsetting wasn't.

Oh I’m happy to have Midnight Coup back too, I was just pointing out the OP is wrong to blame Bungie for following player demands. I agree you aside from sunsetting being a bad call.. I’ve always been an advocate of it but I’d say raid weapons should be except from it.

I think sunsetting was an overall bad call, not because I disagree with the premise but because of execution. Specifically, that it was to kill certain guns, and everything else got caught up. Very few guns from that time frame would have made it into today's meta, and catching armor in it was painful with my stat standard ms for pvp. Armor is basically stat stick now anyway, so re farming the perfect stats gives me a bit of a sour taste for it. Specifically, the sunsetting of some very iconic guns to me kinda shifted how attached I got to them. My 20k midnight coup (that was a lot for me back then) 40k kill clip rampage kindled orcid, which i remember in particular because i got it on my first forge. Breechlight, the best feeling 2 burst I'd shread supers with. I don't "hate" or any hyperbolic thing like that, bungie for doing it, and I was optimistic to let them cook, but on hindsight, it wasn't worth it imo.
