What's the point of sunsetting now if not lazy recycling as "new content" and "nostalgia"?

There is no point now, but the point then was trying to quick fix the issues of the game getting too bloated and power creep. Which did quick fix it, but it just kicked those issues down the road so to speak. They've done a better job of addressing those, and are now just bringing back weapons that people enjoyed that were sunset, with some of the new perks. Which is what people have asked for lol. Also, they aren't touting this stuff like it's some grand savior stuff. That's the community doing that just so they can trash bungie lol.

I'm sure people want sunset weapons back by lifting the power limit, not by reissuing them so you have to grind for it again. The trashing is understandable since the recycling goes really often that you can find a weapon with several versions of stickers on the corner. They can put some new weapons in visual and base identity if they want like veist, there's no reason to not add more loot in looter shooter

You missed the 'with new perks' part I see. A lot of the sunset weapons have been passed by other weapons a long time ago cause of buffs/nerfs and perks. Bringing them back as is would do nothing. They'd just sit in vaults and people would find something else to complain about with them lol. No, the trashing is just cause it's easy to do on bungie. And in most cases the community sets it up lol. Bungie announces something, the community then takes that announcement, twists it up in their mind for what they want it to mean, hype it to the heavens, then trash bungie if it doesn't turn out to be what they made up in their minds lol. They've done it since d1 lol. They've put tons of new weapons in. Just like they've put tons of loot into the game. Just cause everything they put in isn't unique doesn't make that not true. Also, they have a major addition to the game coming in June, that's when we will get tons more new things, not now. It might suck to you, but this is still a business.
