Destiny players when content is staggered: "Remove the timegate, everyone hates it!"
Destiny players when content releases all at once: "I've completed everything these is to do and got 5/5 God rolls on all the guns, now there's nothing to do for the next 10 weeks!"
No denying that Bungie have made many bad decisions over the games' lifespans, but it is also pretty well-documented that the community will criticise them for just about anything. In the grand scheme of things, this is such a minor thing to complain about. I highly doubt that 99% of players agree because the number of players that don't care at all about the limited editions of guns is likely more than 1%.

These are not equal scenarios.

In the long run, time-gating only affects people who want the limited versions of the guns, as the normal ones are here to stay. That is not everyone.
