Bungie sunset those guns so they wouldn’t have to power creep them. Whether you admit it or not if those weapons weren’t sunset people would still be using them in endgame content. They would have been meta for way too long

They would have been meta for way too long[/quote] I learned in D1 not to invest time in acquiring guns/gear, because Bungie would eventually ruin them with nerfs. If Bungie was smart they’d just sell all the best gear. This alone would ensure they make their revenue targets. I’d buy several of the new batch of guns coming for a lot more than nickels and dimes. I’ve got more money than time…

People have certain weapons they use all the time now, everything else gets vaulted or dismantled. Even Bungo admitted sunsetting was a mistake. This move is nothing but pandering to try and salvage the ever diminishing player base.

  • You agreed to let bungie sunset content when you started playing the game

  • And? You had to be on top of your game to EARN them the first time around. They should have been a symbol of your skill/ability. So what if they would have been meta for “too long”, they deserved to be.

  • You had to get 2100 in glory, not really top of your game or anything difficult. You agreed that bungie could do whatever they want with the content when you agreed to that little bit of text at the start. Stop crying over spilled milk

  • 2100 glory when PvP actually worked. (which was one of over 10 requirements) Not the broke -blam!- we got today. Yeah, it was more difficult because we were fighting against people using those weapons already. You have no idea how much of a grind it was because we fought against the OP mountaintop and recluse.

  • Still only half way, also i did play glory (got to about 5k) and i never found it all that sweaty, i never got the title nor did i play too much but it wasnt that bad. 2100 is 2100, its not getting 4k or 5k which really would have made them pinnacle

  • back when redrix and not forgotten dropped, yes 2100 was a struggle. took 3 whole days of nonstop dropping and climbing to get it. it was soul destroying. and partly why i stopped caring about comp once i got my rose roll.

  • I guess i got lucky, i didnt really have too many issues in glory or comp until around 3k to 3.5k

  • Just because something was tough to get doesn’t mean it gets to be meta forever. This exact thinking was why it got sunset.

  • And not only did they reprise a lot of these weapons, but put their perks on other potentially stronger weapons, made them all easier to obtain, and made these weapons stronger. Power creep in a game that they've said is meant to be a power fantasy? Not wanting players to be so attached they won't even try newer gear? They've basically invalidated every reason for sunsetting once they started making comparative/ better gear, especially when they started reprising the gear or making reskins of them, then making them more accessible to everyone.

  • Then tweak the game to make it so its not. Seriously, they did it before.

  • The solution isn’t to just simply make the game harder. If you did then you’d need to power creep of recluse and mountaintop.

  • Making the game harder like Bungie did was all kinds of wrong. The way they did it originally Recluse and Mountaintop would have been just fine in it.
