It’s the same characters, but all their stuff and progress is gone. The characters themself are there. Is this a big or ongoing issue???

What game, Destiny 1 or Destiny 2? The account you're playing on right now has no deleted characters for Destiny 2. It does however have two deleted characters for Destiny 1. There are no games bugs which will cause a player's character to be deleted on either title. -
Destiny 2. When I load into my hunter and titan, all their gear and progress are gone. It just takes me back to the cosmodrome and I have the base armor and weapons.

The account you're logged into right now (rtpilla#5886) has no deleted characters for Destiny 2. It's likely you're logged into the wrong account. Could you confirm what name you're seeing in game? Tell me the full name, including the numbers after the '#'. -
It’s rtpilla#5886 The characters themselves are not deleted. It seems their progress and gear is completely gone. One character is fine the other two are not. For the other two, it takes me back to the beginning of the game and they have no gear or anything.

There have been numerous changes in Destiny 2 since you last played. This includes gear and other content being removed from the game as a result of the DCV. In 2021, Bungie introduced the Destiny Content Vault (DCV for short) which means numerous bits of gear and other content were removed from the game. Because you have played so little, it's very likely the only progress and gear you earned was before the DCV was introduced, which means it is now gone. You haven't lost anything, it was just removed from the game from the numerous updates over the years since you last played (2020/2018). You will have to start all over, which really isn't a problem for you since you have barely played this game. -
I’ve played both my titan and hunter and have beaten end game content like kings fall raid with them and Crotas end etc. But it seems like my warlock is unaffected but the titan and hunter seem to have lost all progress.

Your titan was last played September 14 2018, for part of the opening mission.Your Hunter has a toal of 2 min 29 seconds of game play for Destiny 2. One of a couple things is occuring. 1. You are logged into an account other than the one with higher levels of game play on your other characters. 2. Your main characters are on one of the other platforms (xbox or steam) that are now dormant due to cross save being active with PSN as main character/progress set.

If I turn off crosssave, will the main characters converge to my PlayStation?

Nothing merges. If you disable Cross Save all characters would only be playable on their original platform.
