-blam!- teammates in The Coil. You fill in the blank
Before any already expected responses come spilling through the door; Yes, I understand that if I want a competent team that actually plays objective, use the lfg app. We shouldn't have to seek out players to be able to do the activity the way that it's intended to be done. Plates, pots, adds, bosses. This is a rant post but mostly it's feedback to improve future activities.
I am complaining, but more importantly I'm leaving feedback on how incompetent matchmade teammates can be in The Coil activity. The activity as a whole is probably one of the most unique seasonal activities we've ever had and it's very rewarding. The one thing that many other players, including myself have complained about is teammates pulling us into the next area. Let me be clear. I am very experienced at the game. I have played since 2014 when I first learned about Destiny from my Sergeant at work. I do gms daily for fun, I've solo flawlessed nearly every dungeon and I've completed master lost sectors using only abilities no weapons. I have 4,000+ hours on my main Steam account and with all the other platforms and other accounts I also play on, including the time invested on Destiny 1 we're probably looking at an easy 10,000+ hour investment, maybe even much more. My movement is very good and very fast. I'm always the one ahead of the game and way ahead of everyone else - but I never pull other players unless they ask me to. I wait patiently when I'm done. I kill mostly everything, usually the one on top of the scoreboard and I always play objective. I am the definition of a sweat - with that being said, if anyone is ever moving faster than me, 9 times out of 10 they are skipping objectives and just trying to reach point A from point B as quickly as possible. In this case and from many other past coil experiences, most players are not capturing plates, not killing adds, not collecting pots and not picking up dropped glass on the ground. Players are running through the entry portal, running to the secret chest room, running to the exit portal and pulling both teammates. You can see how infuriating this can be especially if it's happening time and time again each coil run. It doesn't leave me enough time to gather every pot and to loot the secret chest room myself. I don't expect every player to know where every pot or plate is located. I don't expect anything from anyone other than to simply play objective. I know that's asking for a lot but it really isn't. It seems like most players in this game just want to run and gun while not having to worry about or focus on mechanics. Just go play Call of Duty. I don't tell other players how to play or tell them what to use like most people do in gms, bring void hunter/wellock, etc. If you are so bad at the game that you have to tell people to use mics in gms or you have to tell people to use certain loadouts in activities, well.. that's speaking volumes. You're probably just really bad at the game if you're using other teammates specific loadouts as a crutch. As usual I had a pretty bad experience in The Coil yesterday, several times actually, and then again today and I finally felt the need to say something to this clown on our fireteam. I told him stop pulling. you're missing pots. slow down. As you can see, he didn't take that advice too kindly and told me that I'm playing and not a manager. He made fun of me still needing the secret chests and called me a -blam!-. He then went on to loot the secret chests and continued pulling as he did the entire time. That makes a lot of sense, am I right. Screenshots attached with post. The solution is quite easy: >Place three activation plates in front of any entry and exit portal like the one in the very beginning near the Spirit of Riven >Make it so one person can't step on all three plates rapidly to activate the portal Fixed. You should never be able to forcibly pull other teammates to the next encounter. Nothing is ever too hard or too complicated to re-work. I assure you this could have been fixed within a few days of coding and implemented within the first month of release. Having no other options, I'll just refrain from matchmaking and use the lfg app. Hope you enjoyed the read.
Moderator edit: I have removed your image. Do not call out other players with screenshots/videos including their name with the intent of shaming them.
I agree getting pulled can be aggravating at times but removing it could be just as problematic if there's a scenario where a player has difficulty getting passed a particular obstacle; in this case one of the spike traps and pulling them ahead can spare the team the unnecessary loss of revives.
