Bungie likes to go on about balancing the economy but in reality I have so many resources at my disposal I am basically a dragon on top of a hoard of gold. For the record, I sold every single shard before the season started since they were getting removed soon and we were told Master Rahool wasn't taking them any more. Surprise surprise, when this new season rolls around and we still need them to upgrade gear and pay Xur, at least until the new DLC. So then the process began again of hoarding Legendary Shards, and I am back up to nearly 3,000 with simply playing about 2 days each week. The main argument though was that New Lights didn't have much of them and were always running out. This is due to needing to upgrade their gear but also I would wager that they simply did not understand they need to delete gear instead of just shoving everything into their vault. This most likely is not an issue with acquiring them, it is that Bungie does not communicate that you need to delete bad rolls to get resources, to upgrade good rolls. I still maintain that it was a bad decision to eventually remove them instead of making it worth the hoarders' while to spend them regularly on the end game side of things.

 • Pfft, it isn't just New Lights that need to learn about deleting gear, veterans are still asking for more vault space. Of course, I'm at 560 myself so I don't have much room to talk; I really need to dismantle those crap roll Exotics in my vault. 🤔

 • True, though that one might just be laziness or reluctance to part with a memorable roll. Typically I will organize my vault at the end of every season or whenever I am waiting for someone to join. I'll run through the websites to check for the best rolls and delete all that are under the lower ratings or I will never use. Then I will check every weapon archetype and element for duplicates, for example I hardly need 5 different Solar Pulse Rifles, if I never use them. I will keep 1 for PvE and 1 for PvP since their perks will usually be vastly different. Any memorable or sunset weapons like Breachlight I will toss on my two unused characters. Exotics, Ritual Weapons, and Craftable weapons that I don't use but can be acquired from collections or remade quickly at the Mars Relic can all be deleted as well. Usually this keeps me well under 400 but I admittedly do need to clean out my armor section since it is my Prism and Shard storage.

 • I use Destiny Recipes toward the end of a season to clear out my vault as well, although I didn't take the long season into account this time and have built up quite a bit of clutter. Actually, perhaps the ideal time for me to do another cleaning would be right before the update coming on Tuesday. You did give me a sharp idea about gear I can't bring myself to part with, too; I've got a bunch of useless gear on my other two characters that could stand to go, and they could be used as something of a secondary vault. Thank you!
