Hi, I tried all the same things you listed and I'm still having this issue after 2 days worth of trying.
Any help from the dev/support team?

Tried with a VPN. Did't work.

Nope. It feels like this forum is mainly either for players to help each other with easier issues, or just to vent about more complicated ones. Don't expect help from Bungie outside of getting a link to a help page :(. I've seen some people claim it works over VPN, haven't tried it though.
