I really don’t understand the complaints about special ammo. If you perform decently, you will pretty much always have special ammo up (since it gives you a good amount of ammo every drop), besides at the very beginning of the match. This is just going to make people play smarter and not mindlessly rush in with shotguns and fusions or camp in the back with a sniper the whole game.

  • I have a few problems with this logic. If people perform good, then they'll have plenty of special ammo right? ....Then what is the point of changing the system in the first place? Also, if you perform good, you'll have special ammo.... so that means that people who perform bad will get curb stomped even harder and have nothing to defend themselves other than a primary by players who get special ammo before them. I don't see how people see this as a good system. This is hilariously bad

The problem with the old system is that everyone would have special ammo, even bad players. And special weapons can make even a bad player good, which doesn’t feel fair. I want someone who’s actually better than me to win a gunfight against me, not because they’re using a weapon that can single handedly carry them in every gunfight. It promotes people to actually get better with a primary. You want special ammo to make your life easier? Then learn how to aim and get kills with a primary.

  • Yeah the special changes are gonna be oppressive for lesser skilled players. I’m not a fan of having to work for special ammo. Bungie is trying to make people want to practice but I don’t think it’s going to have the effect they want. I see most people saying screw it and just dipping from pvp in general resulting in just higher skilled players staying making every game just a sweat fest.

  • I think you’re very mistaken. A lot of mid to high skill players including myself will be coming back because of these changes. The only “high” skill players that are currently playing are xim and Cronus cheaters. They’ve ruined it for the rest of us. These changes are going to bring back a lot of people who were tired of special weapons and ability spam. I just don’t know if it will be enough. The cheaters are the real problem, so until that gets dealt with, pvp will never return to its glory days

  • Bungie a while back mentioned how the special change in checkmate promoted snowballing where the good team would just start getting back to back specials making it impossible for the lower skill team to have a chance and tried fixing it but never fully did and instead of trying to fix it they're going to release it then fix it later like they've been doing with a bunch of other things.
