The feedback the community gives is always going to be conflicting because different people want different things. Trying to find a sweet spot that pleases most players is going to be very tricky. I don’t think the changes are severe enough to destroy anyone’s ability builds. Those things are still going to be important. They also have a potential to feel more powerful when they’re not in constant use and not constantly up against everyone else’s. However, it is difficult to see how double special will work. I wonder if they’ll address that. There are a lot of cheap options in Crucible. They’ve crept up over the years and I personally feel like a slight dial back on them is long overdue. Gunplay is just as important as space magic in this game. There’ll be further tuning for sure and I suspect they’ll ease up on a few things before TFS drops.

 • Yeah, I wasnt trying to say people will agree, that will almost never happen. But, when you want something, saying its not happening bc ppl dont care, saying its unfair, or that your being forced to play something you dont like, doesnt progress the conversation on how we can make the game better. You could have good points to make, but if you words things like that, the chances people will want to listen are low. I like the ability tuning, as its not gonna change much, but reduce the uptime slightly. Think of this, is you get 1 less ability per game, its a small impact, but if the entire other team doesnt get 1 ability in a game, thats 6 less abilities you might have to deal with. These kinds of changes will always improve the player experience more than they hurt it. When main mode checkmate returns, there are still some outlier builds that essentially bypass the ability charge nerfs completely that should be addressed, but overall, they seem to be on the right track ability wise. Double special isnt possible post update in the transmat ammo era, as abilities wont give you enough/any progress to your bar. Youd basically have to run around capping zones to get a few rounds (idk how ammo transmat even works with x2 specials, if you get the full value for both, or if its split). This also goes for sudo double special, like FL + GL, even in qp, the build will likely disappear, which is really shameful to see tbh. Very explosive and expressive loadout, thats also punishing if you miss, now has nowhere in pvp to be used. (Now that i think about it, will you even be able to use old ammo system in private matches, or will you be forced into the new one there too? Itd be VERY silly to not let players chose that)

 • I agree with your comments.
Think of this, is you get 1 less ability per game, its a small impact, but if the entire other team doesnt get 1 ability in a game, thats 6 less abilities you might have to deal with.
This is a good way of putting it. A small change for each individual player has a lot of potential to open up more gunplay. I also think you’re right about double special. I don’t see any way to make it work. Double special requires constant access to green ammo and the whole point of the ammo bar is to prevent that. I wonder if we’ll see a new modifier/mode that offers current Crucible ammo and abilities (or maybe a midway point between current Crucible and Mayhem). I feel like there should always be a playlist that dials up the power fantasy and space magic, for those who want it.
