So, I Lied About Me Trying to Solo Warlord's Ruin Again... (EDIT: And I Solo-Flawlessed Ghosts of the Deep Now with My Sanity Still in One Piece)

Earlier post about this topic here. SEE FINAL EDIT AT THE BOTTOM FOR SUMMARY OF THIS POST. THIS IS A LONG POST WITH JUST REALLY BASIC FEEDBACK AND POSITIVE VENTING FOR THE MOST PART. I'm not sure what has gotten into me lately. A few weeks earlier, I started using a very weird sniping build in the Crucible (weird as in almost no one else uses Wings of Sacred Dawn and especially with a sniper). It felt pretty good. I even felt like I got a bit better at the game after making myself use such a build. And suddenly since the middle of last week, I had a huge urge to try and tackle some more solo-flawless dungeon runs that I've never been able to complete. The ones I've had done for a while were Shattered Throne, Pit of Heresy, Prophecy, and Grasp of Avarice. I even had 2 solo-flawless clears on Shattered Throne because it's just that out of date. But last weekend, I decided to tackle Duality, especially since it was the current dungeon active with the rotator. In the past, I've died to a variety of things during each run, but otherwise I was able to complete the runs without much issue, just not flawless. Honestly a skill issue. So after a day of failing a solo-flawless run last week, I tried it again the next day. I succeeded. Explosive Round scout rifles and a grenade launcher did the trick. That felt nice, and then this week started. Spire of the Watcher is the current rotator dungeon as of this post's creation. I haven't tried soloing this dungeon since last season, where I did make it to the final boss without dying. Didn't do it flawless back then and after doing Duality flawless, this one became the next one on my to-do list. So yesterday I gave it a go since I still felt pretty good about last week. There were many close calls, but I did it in one go solo-flawless. That put me on a solo-flawless streak. I was very happy with that. And I was also questioning my luck. I mainly used Dragon's Breath for that run and swapped the special weapon here and there. But now comes today. By the order of how I was doing these dungeons like this, Ghosts of the Deep should've come next. I'm not doing that one. Spare my sanity. At least, I don't think I'm doing that one anytime soon. But I decided to revisit the solo Warlord's Ruin idea. After all, I did complete it solo last time, just not flawless. That last time, I died to parkour and then the final boss a bit. 14 million HP is still a ton to burn through for one boss. But, I decided to try my luck with it again even though I said that I wouldn't since I was on a streak somehow. Died during the second boss to a sniper that one-shot me, so I reset. But then I tried it a second time. And I guess because I was more prepared, I did it. I actually solo-flawlessed Warlord's Ruin. It took me a little bit over 100 minutes. Just like Spire of the Watcher, actually. I also used Dragon's Breath again and a fusion rifle to clear the whole dungeon. Honestly the first time I've solo-flawlessed an up-to-date dungeon too. So lesson learned; knowing is half the battle and there is always things to learn. And yeah, Warlord's Ruin isn't a bad dungeon. Probably would be in line with the older dungeons if it was a 1600 Power activity. I debated with that thought and that's the conclusion I've come up with. Even with 3 bosses compared to the 2 or 1-boss dungeons, it isn't bad at all. I guess I just got good or something. So, I guess I should also apologize because I've changed my opinion on Warlord's Ruin. I do like it. It's nothing like Ghosts of the Deep. Ghosts of the Deep is just its own layer of suffering in this game. Maybe just don't make dungeons like that one anymore, Bungie. That'll probably do it. That's basically my general feedback on the dungeons that were focused on here. Thanks for reading this post and sorry about the opinion change. EDIT: ...I soloed Ghosts of the Deep in the same day. And it was literally my first attempt ever trying to solo it. And I did it without dying. I think I have issues, but... Huh. So, it took over 40 minutes longer than Warlord's Ruin. I also had to learn the underwater puzzle during the first boss because I never attempted it before. But, so, anyways, the annoying bits are how long the first encounter is, the time it takes to get to the first boss (but it was alright difficulty-wise), and how ridiculously long it takes to beat the last boss while trying not to die. Everyone that has done the Ghosts of the Deep dungeon knows this already, even those who don't solo it. For the first boss, I used Dragon's Breath and a fusion rifle yet again. However, for the second boss, I switched to One-Thousand Voices because it's hitscan and the boss can't dodge it as easily. I also kept using a special ammo fusion rifle, but it was mostly just for the mini-bosses. I was worried that my game was going to crash with how long the last fight was taking just to spite me rather than me dying. Can't recommend others to try soloing this unless they have a very strong healing build. I'm not sure what to do now. I wasn't expecting to steamroll the dungeons like that. I don't think I'll ever have this much excitement over the game ever again. GG, Bungie. FINAL EDIT: To summarize this post, I've sorted out my thoughts on Warlord's Ruin and concluded that it was a good dungeon and that it's fine. Even with the final boss and its loads of HP, at least you are doing damage before the big damage phases. It's better than the Ghosts of the Deep final boss for sure. And also I felt a need to both apologize for changing my opinion on Warlord's Ruin and also to do some positive venting after somehow steamrolling 4 dungeons solo-flawless in a week's span. My chest was hurting after Ghosts of the Deep from too much excitement and doing it in one go. And also, not 15 minutes later after that dungeon, the game froze, so I'm glad I got it done when I did. I'm aware that this is a long post for such basic feedback, but I also hope that perhaps some of the things I've said helps others out with their runs.

  • I’m trying to solo every GM, so that’s something you can try. I got tired of soloing dungeons because they take so long to do when you have work and family, you feel guilty for having to leave when you dumped so much time attempting it. Solo GMs, if you have to quit, no big deal.
And also I felt a need to both apologize for changing my opinion on Warlord's Ruin

A final boss with 14,000,000 HP drags on for ages and it feels like anything could kill you at any moment. For most players, I can say for certain that something like Restoration will feel necessary at least for the final encounter because it is rough. And then if you go into final stand without heavy ammo... Bless the pillar I dodged around crouched for 2 minutes.
What i bolded is Valid on its own merit. And who gives a Hoot if that's how you feel. Making a Boss a Bullet Sponge is not Interesting or Inventive. Its flat out Lazy.
So, I Lied About Me Trying to Solo Warlord's Ruin Again
So...who are you trying to impress? If people dont like your opinion...doesn't mean you then go change it to appease them. Stick to what you know. Rule Number 1 in life: Never Apologize for having a different Opinion. You lose all respect, and the people you try to Appease, will treat you like a Doormat. My Opinion: World Lords Ruin had S### Lore. I stick by that.

It just occurred to me that some people that play this game treat solo flawlessing dungeons as normal but playing solo in PvP is considered abnormal. From where doo dee problems emerge?

            • This post title was a little misleading. I thought you made a post where you "lied" and said you did something you didn't actually do. (I didn't read the linked post, so maybe you did?) Anyway, good job, and changing your opinion is not lying, nor is it something to be sorry about.
