The only thing that'd cause repeated data corruption problems after all those troubleshooting steps would be if your storage drive or internet have an issue. Either one could cause corruption when the files are being downloaded/installed. Refurbished isn't new, it's used/broken and given to whichever retailer you bought it from, and they supposedly fix whatever issues they think it has, then resell it. I'd suggest exchanging it at the retailer you bought it from for another refurbished one since you're having an issue that points to the storage drive possibly being faulty. Since you just got it, they should be able to exchange it for you, then you can try the new system. There is no known issues currently concerning PS4s having corrupted game files for Destiny 2. The fact that it's Destiny 2 that you only experience the issue with is coincidental. Other games may also have an issue that you don't notice or haven't experienced yet based on which files are placed on the bad spots on the drive if it has any. Destiny 2 is also an active online game, and has built-in safeguards to prevent tinkering with it if it can, so if it verifies the files upon start-up and finds an issue, that'd lead to the thing you're seeing.

  • Just checking in and wanted to say the issue is solved. Thank you so much for you help ADragonWithin!! It was definitely a hardware issue. I returned to the retail store to exchange the faulty console for another. D2 is working just fine now! Thanks again!

  • Glad things worked out in a timely manner and you were able to get a different console. Good luck, Guardian!

  • Ok so I'm back. I really do appreciate your response. I believe I've come to a conclusion on what the issue is. I've downloaded big named games like Fortnite and Apex on to this specific console to see if the problem is only Destiny 2, and these games also do not work. The smaller size games work fine for some reason, while the bigger sized file games do not. So I believe you are correct that it is a hardware issue. Even though it is a newly bought refurbished console, it isn't working properly for games, so this is restoring my hope that it isn't a more complex unknown issue. I think the console itself isn't working properly for games. I did buy a year warranty while I still have access to the 30day return policy. Unfortunately I won't be able to resolve this until next Thursday. In the meantime, since I was trying so many different troubleshooters, all I can do is try to factory reset the console 1 last time and try to Download a different game preferably a big sized game for a starting point, to test if that works. I appreciate the quick reply on the solution and what to do, you were most helpful!

  • I appreciate your reply and time. I believe I'm starting to brainstorm what the actual problem is. It isnt my internet speed. I understand a refurbished console is a used, fixed and resold console but I doubt it has anything to do with the console especially after it's already been factory reset twice. Once before purchase, and once by me thinking that could have been the problem. What I believe it is, I have been playing D2 for years. Even before it's release at Beta. So when I go into my ps4 Library menu of games. I am clicking on Destiny 2 and downloading from there. I think the issue is, I might be downloading an older version of the game. So the solution may be to go directly into Playstation Store instead and download the new version and maybe go from there. I've purchased every dlc up to date, so maybe instead of going to Library to download the game and additional files, I might need to download straight from the PlayStation store instead. Im doing that now, I'll let you know if it works. I'm already seeing "some" progress
