I feel we've (the devs and us both) optimized the motivation out of destiny.
Gun rolls don't matter just shard until you get all the red boarders
Red boarders don't matter just use harminizers
Leveling crafted guns doesn't matter just buy Levels
But guns also don't matter because abilities are so strong
The 3 core activities have nothing to chase. No Lunas howl or redrix.
Catalysts are practically given away in the first activity you do.
If you're not doing trials, gms, or raids already you probably aren't going to start.
No more grinding light and seeing the number go up.
Titles are either too annoying for most to try or too easy to care about.
I could go on but I think that'd get gratuitous. Probably already has tbh.
I'm not trying to say there isn't anything fun or anything at all to chase. But I personally feel most of the chase has been optimized out one way or another. It leaves to much room for you to mindlessly play a strike with no goal and ask "why?" I'm honestly mostly still playing some myself bc i love crucible.

personally i like red borders cause it gives me more of a reason to do the raid (and that one dungeon for the smallest amount of time) i think them adding in a red borderifyer was dumb, that should of never been put in the game, but it was put there to make people buy the season pass, witch is just scummy imo.

I'm really in two minds about this. Red borders do have their place, but we definitely need more guns that we're unable to craft with new bonkers perks on them. This season, I've really enjoyed hunting a Ros Arago IV with subsistence and onslaught. I got one today, and it's such a cool gun. I'm also after an Avalanche with Rewind rounds firing line, but i can fully understand where your coming from most world drops are absolutely pointless. Honestly, i dont know how they fix this now. Like i said, maybe introduce more exclusive open world drops. If I'm honest, i still miss the old system of taking your engram to Rahool and not knowing what you'll get. -
Edited by Honed: 12/14/2023 10:59:05 AMI think there should be a way to make a gun you love using enhanceable, something tied to ada-1 tho...? but i don't think there's every been a time i sat down and spent hours trying to get a god roll, even before red borders happened, I just did the activity to get the exotic and that was it, and i know most of the people i played with only did it for the exotic, they couldn't care less about the guns in a raid or activity, cause it was way too much of a grind for most player's, now people run it for the exotic's and red borders. more to chase after.

Funny, we were talking about that exact idea a couple of days ago in my clan. Yeah I think I good middle ground is being able to enhance and be able to put momentos on regular guns too without crafting them. So if you get the perfect gun just enhance it.

Even the normal non crafted weapons I find I just dismantle until I see the god roll. After that it’s back to dismantling them because what’s the point I have the god roll for the weapon now.

The point is you're looking. If it's a craftable gun there's really no reason to.

True but sometimes I find the search ends pretty quickly when I was going after breakneck in gambit this season I expected to have reset my rank at least one time before getting breakneck to roll with onslaught but nope fabled 1.
