I’ve done a lot of master lost sectors. I once did 11 without a drop and I once had 3 in a row. The variance is quite high.

It's not variance per se, more just how random [u]r[/u]ng is. I also have had this happen and it's annoying, I think they should make the chances go up with each one you complete.
