More than 60 percent of psn sales/subscriptions are still on ps4. Even though Sony swore up and down that god of war would be the last in house title that would be backwards compatible they are full of it Ps6 is due to come out in late 2026, there is literally no point in bungie or anyone else ending old gen support of anything until Sony and Microsoft force the issue by terminating support which they just won’t this particular upgrade cycle The current generation of gamers is also not going to accept that forced upgrade either. There will be mountains of lawsuits trying to force support for the next 10 years. It took Microsoft 18 years to extricate themselves from windows xp and 7 and they have still have huge lawsuits lingering from it Sony still is being continuously sued for ending their parts manufacturing for ps3 and still is under a court order to keep providing security updates for it

  • Holy sht really a PS3 dam, you know Xbox used to send a placebo update to old consoles so that they would stop working and you either had to get a new next generation console or get a new console of the same generation that you currently have. I'm not sure but I believe that is one of the law suites you may be referring to.

  • No what you’re referring to is planned obsolescence. Microsoft has always been particularly aggressive about it.
