I really don’t buy into this myth.
The amount of practice it takes for a coordinated team to develop useful call outs, compositions and strategies is excessive.
Professional teams practice every day for months to get that kind of performance.
Those are not the people you are coming up against.
You’re coming up against a couple of dudes in their 20’s shouting -blam!- like “he’s one he’s one he’s one” till well after he has healed back to full.
Directions are given without orientation, and the majority of the noise coming through those headsets will not only be outdated when it arrives, more often than not it’ll actually be unhelpful.
The game doesn’t need to recreate and rework anything so people who are bad at pvp can cope.
If they take the teams out, you’ll still get dunked on.
If you were good, people communicating wouldn’t be able to stop you. Is just externalisation of blame. That’s all it is.

Edited by Nimune: 10/27/2023 8:07:44 AMWhile I appreciate your input, our expertise on the subject is vastly different. You have played Destiny 2 pvp 181 hours. To comparison, I have played Destiny 2 pvp for 5131 hours. I'm not bringing this up to flex stats, I'm trying to point out that there's a high chance that your knowledge of this issue might not be sufficient, wether you "buy into this myth" or not. I'm not talking about couple blueberries having fun with mates in crucible. Many teams range from above average to very good players, and those team completely throw off the lobby balance when matched against solos.
-
Destiny 2 isn’t the only game that exists dude. You binging Destiny 2 an unhealthy amount does not in anyway make you more knowledgeable or informed about game design or how these systems work broadly. The kind of coordination that makes a squad effective is not possessed by the average 20 year old men on discord.
-
It's not about the coordination. It's having group of good players on one side and random solos on other side.
-
Good players, those with KDs above 2.0 are exceedingly rare, and there are not mass amounts of 2.0 players going around in large teams. We do not need to redesign core systems for edge cases. That’s stupid.
-
They might be rare to you. And it doesn't need to be 2 kd players to throw off the balance.
-
They are rare statistically. 2.0 players make up single digit percentages of the entire playerbase. This game doesn’t have skill based matchmaking, so you aren’t able to gaslight me on this.
-
Edited by Nimune: 10/27/2023 8:19:46 AMSome game modes do indeed have sbmm. Some modes have cbmm.
-
And none of them has mass amounts of 2.0 KD players roaming around in squads making pvp unplayable for everyone else.
-
Edited by Nimune: 10/27/2023 8:21:52 AMAs said, it doesn't need to be 2 kd team to throw off the balance. Why are you even commenting about this? You hardly play pvp in this game.

I outlined my stance in my initial post, I’m tired of this myth. Pvp games have existed for decades, a good portion of them have forums. There is a subset of people who cannot be self critical and externalise all sources of blame. If Bungie capitulated and spent the millions necessary to build this new system and cater to the very vocal minority who perpetuate this myth, within a week y’all would find the next thing to pin all your blame on. It’s happened time and time again, it will always be something else’s fault. Every member in that squad is just one person, when they beat you, it’s because they outplayed you, and no amount of some random Chad screaming “he’s one he’s one he’s one, I’m gonna go flank on the ?left?” Invalidates that. The better player wins.
-
I'm not sure why I'm still trying to explain this to a 1 kd player who has visited lighthouse 1 time, and who is by all standards considered a casual. You might have played something else. It doesn't make you the expert how things work and are in this particular game. Please answer these questions: As a solo player, is the experience better if: a) you never match against teams b) you sometimes match against teams Assuming matchmaking is preferring connection, is the connection quality better if: a) everyone can be evaluated as a solo participant b) teams are evaluated by fireteam lead and team members can be from anywhere in the globe Can the lobbies be balanced more evenly if: a) lobbies are made purely from solo players b) lobbies sometimes have teams and team sizes vary
-
When matched for skill, fireteam is irrelevant. Also are you okay? How many casual players do you think have been to the lighthouse? xD Sorry bud, you’re really out of touch.
-
Not sure if trolling or just an idiot. Let's leave it here anyway.
-
Bro you’re trying so hard to discredit me, that you’re willing to say one of the hardest things to do in pvp is something casuals do. You’re genuinely delirious.

This person is not interestet in getting a conversation. Everthing that doesn't fit in his opinion is just wrong. 🤷♂️ Don't waste your time. I already exposed his/her dirty polemic tricks he/she does not care. 😊

Read our thread again now that you've gotten a breather. Maybe you learn something if you keep an open mind. It is ok to be wrong and learn. That is how we grow.
