First of all you CAN disable cross play yourself so matchmaking activities only match you with PC players.
Second of all it isn’t just console players. I run a PS5 and have negligible load times because I pay for better internet. So a PC player with crap internet can suffer the same load delays. Not everyone can afford higher tier internet speeds.
Calm down.

You do know that the PC version of Destiny 2 has no option to disable cross play.
-
Ok that’s fair. But willfully ignoring that PC players can also have garbage internet and that the servers are massively unstable right now is just willful ignorance.
First of all you CAN disable cross play yourself so matchmaking activities only match you with PC players.
No, you said this. Now I'll let you know how it actually is. You know that option in your ps5 settings, crossplay on/off, well pc & Xbox don't have that option, Xbox has a workaround but involves turning off all communication inc messages, etc etc & affects all games, but it's not in the d2 game, & pc simply cannot turn crossplay off.
-
You will always load into tower with other systems even with settings adjusted for it. The game will try to match you with the same that you play on but again, even PC players can have garbage load times if they have garbage internet. AND THE SERVERS ARE MASSIVELY UNSTABLE RIGHT NOW. So. Calm. Down.

It's hardware that causes slow loading, not internet, & it's been like this for YEARS. Some guy having poor WiFi doesn't cause me on business internet to take 8 mins to land. I've used old Xbox one, in a hotel on .2mb & landed in 30 secs. & bungie don't prioritise who you land with other than location, towers are region matchmaking. Location is key, because different areas have different populations. Europe is pc heavy, lots of PSN, barely any Xbox, 50-38-12, whereas USA is mixed, xb,psn,pc 36-33-31, the middle east is like 90% psn. Turn off cross play, even on PS4, you'll land in 2-10 secs

Seriously. It’s not a console vs PC problem. It ain’t that deep either. My load times are negligible, when the servers are stable. I even load in before my PC friends sometimes, when the servers are stable.
-
You're on ps5, it'll have better hardware than lots of pcs. Not arguing, sorry if it sounds like I am. I've researched this for years & spoken to tech guys I trust, they insist it's old gen consoles & bungies awful networking but hey, as you said, it's not that deep, I'd be happier if they just removed the tower
-
They need to fix the damn servers.

I've played this game for 9 years, well over 30k hours across numerous accounts, & I've been on the verge of walking away recently. I moved to destiny from cod in 2014 & I'm seriously considering going back for modern warfare 3 this November. The beta is in 3 weeks & these nonstop errors are just another push in that direction
-
Feel ya. I’m a Day One D1 vet. Played the beta too. I’ve never been closer to outright quitting than I have been this past week.
-
Still remember going on holiday Saturday morning & they released the moon Saturday afternoon & gave people an emblem :(
-
Of course you assume you can turn cross play off, being on ps5. Lol
-
And please read the part where I said “matchmaking activities”. This is not a console vs PC issue. The servers are massively unstable and not everyone can even afford the nice zippy internet speeds. Reading comprehension is key.

There is literally an option in the games menu for it.
