Investing MORE into Gambit is as good an idea as a football bat.

  • Return Gambit to what it once was. Bring back Prime, the Reckoning. I barely step into Gambit now because it's not as good as it once was.

  • Yikes. Good luck with that. It was never very good to begin with, which is why they kept trying to change it and it just got worse.

But as it currently is, it's far worse than before and the players still demand certain things and never being satisfied with the changes that they demanded.

I disagree. Gambit is well liked by a large portion of players. If it wasn't, they would not have made it a 3rd pillar in the activity loop. Bungie hasn't been successful because they are lucky. They know quality, and they know it's fun. They know it is a fun diversion from the other 2 pillars. However, some of the higher up execs who only think of the P&L statement made poor decisions about how to retain players interest.

  • It may have been that at one time. It is clearly not any longer.

  • A large portion ?! Are you aware more people do raids everyday then play gambit.

Yes, these days...that is true. PvE is a huge draw...no doubt about it. But the PvP and Gambit experiences, when enhanced and well cared for, will keep people coming back week after week...once the hype and fun of raids dwindles inevitably with time. Perhaps it's just me (and a very vocal portion of the community leaders)...but we all get bored with PvE once we dominate it. PvP keeps Destiny going between new PvE drops. Always has, always will (if they invest intelligently).

  • hahaha the state of the game just confirmed gambit dead. even making it so I have to play less of it in a season -- which will be hard to do, cause currently i play zero. Ya, it did confirm they are moving away from it. They should have confirmed it two years ago when they ACTUALLY moved away from it. That's too bad. It could have been great with more maps/modes.
Imagine THREE teams of four players in Gambit. Ideas like that are what I'm talking about to keep it fresh and interesting.
As for dominating PvE...I didn't mean solo flawless raids or that I am 8x gilded conqueror. I mean doing it ad nauseum and being bored once you beat it. It's a subjective take, but one that I've heard from many people who have dominated and earned all those accolades and enjoy PvP and PvEvP as something to do until the next content drop.

  • Raids are a joke, I’d rather play Gambit any day.

  • Do we have the numbers of who plays gambit?

  • No. I’m willing to bet the vast majority of the playerbase doesn’t care about gambit. They did their big overhaul 1-2 years ago by combining classic gambit and gambit prime. Most people still aren’t playing it. It’s not worth their time to invest in it anymore

That doesn't mean new maps and exciting changes (random rotators, boss type, subclass or weapon locking, etc) won't be able to rejuvenate the pillar. It is actually fun to jump into from time to time, and a PvPvE game type is definitely popular in gaming communities. They should expand to include mechanics and other things to spice it up.
