This game wasn’t built with pvp in mind. You will need to wait until marathon to get a pvp focused game from bungie. If I’m not mistaken I believe destiny has substantially higher number of pve players vs pvp players. Also I don’t know why someone would want to play destiny pvp when there are just so many better options out there. Why limit yourself to the bottom of the barrel pvp experience

Destiny 2 literally launched allowing players to spawn with only primary ammo, the game was conceived almost purely with PvP in mind…

Name one dlc or season that was pvp focused. Pvp in this game has gotten 0 attention outside of basic needs to keep it “fresh”. The team since destiny release has and will continue to be PvE

The game is absolutely nothing like it was at launch. It is currently designed for PvE content. Evolution happens.

there is no pvp that's quite like Destiny though. The market is dominated by mil-sim and BR/Extraction, which I am not too into. do you have any suggestions for someone who likes Destiny pvp, but not its current implementation? seriously interested

If you dont mind even starts and more emphasis on gunplay, then trace Destinys roots, Halo. Destiny is a watered down version of Halo in the end. It tramples on Halos greatest strengths and clutters the gameplay loop with abilities and an unbalanced sandbox. Bungie clearly didnt learn from Halo when creating D2. They kinda kept elements of Halo in D1 but not much. So I highly recommend Halo. Stay away from Infinite though. While it has sliding and faster paced elements similar to Destiny, the mtx system is awful and theres almost nothing to earn for free. Pick up MCC and enjoy a quality story and gameplay experience.

Halo isn't cheesy enough for me. I like pure gunplay games, but not as much as I like slightly cheesy fps games. I'm semi-casual, and I feel like the Halo franchise is full blown serious.

i live off-grid, and power consumption is an issue. modern consoles pull a fair amount of power already. my current system couldn't likely keep up with a gaming PCs power needs :-/

45 % of the daily players are playing PvP. Also don’t forget many PvP players grind PvE for PvP weapons but not the other way around.

Are 45% of players actually playing pvp, or are they going in for a few games to get a powerful engram, or to finish a bounty or seasonal challenge? The people who Hardline pvp everyday even if means not completing a quest or earning a reward? Significantly less than 45% I'd guess.

They say it's a PvE focused game, wherein the general and main parts of the gameplay are PvE, not pvp. That is true, most of the game is PvE. That's the opposite of most games where you okay a 5 hour campaign and then slide into matchmaking for 3 years until the servers die. Your point becomes immediately easy to argue against and defeat when you do something stupid like wildly misrepresent the people you're arguing against.

This isn't old halo or call of duty where you play a 4 hour campaign and cycle through matchmaking forever. Most of the content added is PvE content. There are more PvE modes than there are PvP modes. 98% of the best rewards come from PvE (as they should, since PvE constitutes the most content, it should have the most rewards). You're on the wrong side of history dude. Point blank. The game has PvP, but it is not a PvP game.

Two reasons. Numero Uno. Destiny PvP is an incredibly unique and special game mode. It is not often that a game focused on small maps with short 15 minute rounds would have such a high mobility and agility. We have that mobility anyways. Not just that, but we also have high ability up time, witch while not the best on the higher end, with builds like Stasis Titan Glacier Spam, but can cause every single game of PvP to play differently as the abilities act as a sort of variable. Finally, there is Gunplay. Bungie has always had some of the best feeling and fun gunplay within the Workspace. This will never change, so even when you are not spamming abilities, or flying across the map, the gunplay is to a point where it feels annoying to play other first person games with fire arms. Secondly. Destiny PvP is what retains the player base. As discussed up above, PvP has quite a few variable, and will never play the same as another match. Due to this, people will naturally be drawn to PvP as the PvE content becomes stale and old. This is a good thing. What does happen though, is that when PvP becomes stagnant, the rest of the game is seen in a much poorer light. It’s not because PvP is a Benchmark for what the game should be, but instead holds the hopes of the community. What I mean is that when PvP retains a player, a player is then able to allow mistakes, like the poor quality of say a story slide under a rug. They will continue to play, and because they continue to play, they will hold out a hope for the future of the game. Without the retention of PvP, the weaker PvE content will cause the game to die at a much quicker pace. PvP is a sort of immune system for Destiny as it prevent Apathy, and incites hopes for the future. PvE is the life blood. Both work in tandem.

The higher number of PvE players are a result of their negligence, not a result of the quality of the gameplay. It's always been a game that is about earning gear in the wild, and then using it against your fellow guardians. And maybe then use it to show off your look and prowess to other Destiny lovers...making friends that share in your successes and failures as we make our way through this thing called life. -

They made these so called competitive maps because we have been asking for it. Trials was a thing since D1 that gives players a chance to have bragging rights about who’s the best at the worst multiplayer platform. Saying pvp is focused is bs
