Also having this problem. Tried all workarounds, the text isn't being sent. Bungie doesn't seem concerned about this even though it's stopping people from playing their game.

Hi there! Bungie is fully aware of this bug and they are investigating. Please remember that not all bugs can be squashed quickly, some require a deep investigation and sometimes working with external parties which means it can take some time. To help Bungie troubleshoot, Bungie is looking for players who are having this issue to provide their region and network operator (EG: Vodafone). A comment within this thread or your own forum post about this issue will be enough. -
Looking at other people's forum posts, the problem has been ongoing for months. Is there no other way to verify the account?

Can this be escalated any further to find a way around it? It just seems like it could be left like this again for months with no fix. I would have thought it would be worth disabling the SMS verification system until it's fixed because it's locking new players out of the better content in the game.
