Destiny 2 has an anti-AFK system where if a player isn’t interacting with the game enough they will be removed from the lobby. Single button/key presses and wiggling your mouse/thumb sticks are not enough, you must be moving about. You will have to interact with the game like every other activity in Destiny. Also, it is highly recommended you pick up your fish immediately (takes 5 seconds or less) to avoid triggering a GUITAR error (occurs when there are too many objects on the ground) which will lead to disconnection and loss of fish. The likely reason we have to constantly move around is to stop people from using macros and other malicious tools to stay in the lobby. It is very unlikely Bungie will change the AFK system as any change will lead to instant abuse.

  • I understand and appreciate your response, but that is not satisfactory. I was playing the game as-intended, and it still kicked me. You can see in the video clearly that is the case. If such nuance is a problem, then Bungie needs to update their system for this activity OR they need to be explicitly clear with an IN-GAME warning. As is, it is completely unacceptable.
I was playing the game as-intended,
No, you weren't. You were just pressing one button over and over. That is not being active, you must be moving around like every other activity. Fishing is no different.
You can see in the video clearly that is the case
I have not watched the video, but I know exactly what happened because these posts come up all the time and it's always the same. The user is only pressing one button over and over which is not enough to prevent being kicked for being inactive.
Bungie needs to update their system for this activity
I disagree because this would make it very easy for people to use malicious tools to cheat the system.
OR they need to be explicitly clear with an IN-GAME warning.
That much I do agree with, but if you are moving around and picking up your fish you won't ever see that message. As I said in my previous comment, if you have too many objects on the ground (fish for example), this can lead to the GUITAR error code and a disconnection. You should pick up your fish immediately which only takes 5 seconds or less to do.

  • The fishing game is literally only pressing a button, therefore I was playing it as-intended. Period. Unless Bungie wants to add a blurb in-game telling me precisely the manner in which I should play otherwise, then that is not up for debate. Bungie screwed up. Period.
The fishing game is literally only pressing a button,
It also means you have to move around to collect your catch. If you're moving around you won't ever be booted.
therefore I was playing it as-intended
Pressing one button over and over is not active as per Bungie's anti-AFK system.
Bungie screwed up. Period.
No they didn't. Destiny 2 has always had an anti-AFK system for all activities. This isn't anything new.

Agree to disagree. There is no reason for me to think I need to do anything other than sit there pressing the button and collect my fish when I'm done. Which, by the way, I do collect fish when a legendary drops because that is what progresses the meter, and the game does not explain this either - another screw up by Bungie. Bungie screwed up, and you are a shill. Good day.
There is no reason for me to think I need to do anything other than sit there pressing the button and collect my fish when I'm done.
As I explained but you may have missed, you should pick up your fish immediately to avoid triggering a GUITAR error code. You shouldn't wait till you're done as lost fish cannot be recovered.
and you [REDACTED] Good day.
No, I'm not. I am simply explaining to you how things are and giving you friendly advice to avoid any further disappointment. You may not like these answers but they are the best solutions to avoid being booted for being inactive. Sorry you were booted. Happy fishing in the future!
