I beg to differ on the farming bit, it just changes what you're farming for really. I spent 16 hours no life farming for the Commemoration Void Heavy Machine Gun pattern. On one hand crafting is great for players who want a consistent reward for their efforts. Random roll grinding is better for players chasing perfect optimization for their weaponry. Currently Bungie needs to balance out the advantages of crafting vs random rolls. The benefits of enhanced perks and customization are what draws many towards crafting, because why would you grind for months on end for an rng miracle to get your 5/5 godroll when you can grind for the pattern instead and then craft it? Crafting is just less stress compared the traditional method. If Bungie added a way to upgrade random rolled weapons into levelable weapons you can customize, that's go a long way to evening out the playing field.
